Whereas the original is quite tranquil and enchanting, this remix goes full force, taking ‘Someone Like You’ right onto the dance floors. … The third and final interpretation of ‘Die Like A Hero’ is supplied by Subandrio who is making his second appearance on Balkan Connection. The Sri Lankan producer first appeared on the Serbian imprint with his remix of Napalm & d-phrag’s ‘For The Love of Machines’ in June of this year. It preceded his release on Perspectives Digital where he was announced as one of the winner’s in the labels ‘Outliers’ remix competition. Subandrio is still vastly underrated in the underground, his style is quite in line with what’s currently fashionable in the progressive new school and it’s only a matter of time before he fully breaks through. There’s a slew of great material forthcoming so the remainder of 2015 and on into 2016 looks quite promising for him. Can’t say I’ve ever heard something from Subandrio which didn’t sound great and he’s turned in a superb remix of ‘Die Like A Hero’ to close the release out. His rough and rugged basslines cut though nicely here and some well placed, delicately polished melodies add a very ethereal touch. A dramatic break pushes it over the edge with a smooth exhilarating build welcoming the return of those perfectly contoured grooves. Just a massive remix from Subandrio again and a great end to the release. Don’t miss it.

Berlin-based Torsten Fassbender aka Wellenrausch / Kymatik has been creating music for over 35 years, producing and remixing for luminaries such as Markus Schulz, Gai Barone, Basil O’Glue, The Thrillseekers, Andy Moor and Blank & Jones to name but a few. Torsten is also a highly respected sound designer for audio titans Waves Audio and Native Instruments.

Both ‘Skuchayu’ and ‘Luna’ represent a fresh direction for Torsten and consequently will be his debut release under his own name.

‘Skuchayu’ is a slowly evolving, brooding slice of emotive melodic techno at it’s finest. Heavily effected arpeggiated synth pulses defy gravity allowing harmonic frequencies to be gently bathed in warm shards of light from the heavens.

A driving syncopated bassline in ‘Luna’ introduces a darker flip side to ‘Skuchaya’. Reverb-laden synth chords transition to a semi-acidic synth riff, stepping up proceedings to a self-assured cantor from the steely moon-horse. Piano and violas provide temporary respite to settle the nerves, before the Fassbender cracks the ultimate whip.
