In the second of our 2015 festival warm up mix series, Phil Asher, takes to the decks to brings us 10 Tracks of an inspirational, uplifting and of course deeply soulful nature.

Phil Asher has been one of the residents of SunSplash Festival over the last 7 years, during which time he has graced our beach parties and club sessions with nothing less that pure class. Whether the occasion calls for good time party tracks, or something deep, moody, broken beat, mellow or cutting edge, few DJs can delve into as wide a spectrum of good music and present it with such natural ability and flair. As far as we are concerned Phil Asher is nothing short of house music royalty, but house music is just the beginning.

Together from birth, two brothers united by their passion for music and more, Pongo is the latest sound evolution of Giovanni Bruni and Daniele Bruni. Growing up with a very similar musical culture, handed down in turn by their parents, the two brothers have always shared their art projects together. Giovanni started playing as a DJ in the early 2000s now enjoying success in the most famous clubs of the clubbing scene in Tuscany. Soon, his younger brother Daniele follows the same steps as supporting him in DJ sets and creating their first music projects together. In 2011, together with Luca L. and Elia C. founded the brand Yuma Recordings.In addition to the  label ,Yuma began to be known for the club event, Yuma Nights, and in 2013 the collective Yuma created the Vibe Club, a place that offered innovative sound in Italian nightlife. The brothers felt that they had to make their most personal productions, with which they can open up more towards a wider musical landscape.
 After a period of evolution in the studio in 2016, it's time to get back on stage for Giovanni and Daniele with their new Pongo project that takes shape with Giovanni on vocals. Their strong influences that fuses electronics, soul, and techno have created this new way of approaching the dancefloor: the combination of evocative song and a powerful and refined set.

The same sun shines into the house of two unsuspecting souls, whose front doors play a game of hide and seek. The game is over as soon as their eyes meet. Jarra translates to neighbor, evoking the dance of side-by-side homes and their dwellers glimpsing fragments of each other’s lives. Through effusive downtempo, Shkoon re-ignites a traditional Iraqi story, one that sings of neighbors falling in love, weaved with melancholy and celebration, transposing of the aurora of a simpler past onto the poignancy of the present.

Stories travel through eras and peoples, carried by those who conjure them. Jarra comes alive to the tune of Shkoon’s vocalist Ameen alongside his fellow countryman the gypsy Violinist Maher and the German Musician Thorben. The remixing artists infuse folklore with evocative modern soundscapes; Nacim Gastli’s progressive passion, Boshoco’s frenzied grooves, Keybe Segg & Pandhora’s emotive deep house heights. They all explore a different facet, with words, sounds, gestures and signs of the past coming alive as a musical tale is revived for dark and light dance floors alike.

After the overwhelming popularity of Pracht's first release from Gorge, which reached number one in the Beatport Deep House top 100, another high performing Germany artist makes his debut - Oliver Schories with the 'Rampart EP'.

Hamburg-based Oliver has been a welcome addition to the German house community for a number of years now. Regularly playing at festivals and clubs across the world, his deep and introspective sound has won him an army of fans. Tracks on 8bit, Parquet Recordings as well as his own SOSO imprint have cemented his place in the industry as a creative, thoughtful producer and wildly original DJ.

Opening with the super funky 'Rampart' we are quickly whisked away to Oliver's world. Bumpy sine bass gets things pumping before the melodics take control, while skippy percussive layers drive it forward to the ethereal break. Taking a deeper, striped back approach, Ray Okpara keeps it minimal throughout before opening up into glorious technicolour.

'Kato', Oliver's second original sees him in deeper melodic waters. Focusing this time on spacey disco pads and leads, this is perfect for early mornings just as the sun comes up. Powerful and understated, it'll be your favourite secret weapon all summer long! Anjunadeep regular Tim Engelhardt adds his wizardry to the remix here. Drawing out the main motifs, he expertly constructs a detailed re-imagination in epic proportions.
