Portland, Maine based producer Of The Trees is no stranger to sexy electronic music. Now with his second free EP offered through Gravitas Recordings, Tyler Coombs goes way beyond even his own previous best with Vacationland. A stirring and impassioned collection, these four pieces of music rightfully deserve to be called "songs" as a distinguishing mark against the current epidemic of disposable music. Listeners who gravitate toward the likes of Mimosa, Minnesota, Gladkill and Kastle will all be pleasantly satisfied with this trip to Vacationland. 

The EP starts strong with the highly infectious Fever Trip, an aptly named excursion through swirling arpeggiators and pitch modulated chords. Hyperflux's soulful yet wonky manner serve as a perfect palette cleanser after a stressful day, preparing you for everything the night has to offer. Next, Absolution goes deep with an immaculate fusing of trap and footwork styles and no small dose of emotive melody. Almost as if it was written as the soundtrack for a melancholy goodbye, Last Request sums up the album with only a touch of regret, perhaps due to a wish that your time in Vacationland could have been just a bit longe

so, this is my essential mix. i want to say a few things about it!

before writing "worlds", i'd been feeling kinda pessimistic about the future of electronic music. so once i was done writing "worlds" over the course of 2~ish years, i just felt the need to find new stuff that i loved. i did a ton of soundcloud digging, basically, and most of the music in this mix was music i found that way. that's not to say that there aren't classics or songs i've known for a while here, but it's mostly new music.

then BBC radio 1 asked me to do an essential mix, and it seemed like the perfect way to showcase new stuff i was into.

i also feel like it's important to point out that this mix isn't what the worlds tour is going to sound like, really - that tour is going to be only my own music. all originals. (also it's going to be a blast and a visual journey and other stuff i can't talk about yet ehehe).

Amon Tobin occupies a peculiar position in the dance music firmament – a point where the gravitational forces of IDM, EDM, D’n’B and rather more hipster-friendly bass music balance one another out. He’s got every bit the production finesse, and often the weirdness, of WARP luminaries, he can also make some very deep and dark basement-friendly tunes – yet he is something of a rave superstar in the USA, and for The Six Rhythms EP he’s on Dutch loudness-warriors Noisia’s label Division. His Two Fingers guise was originally created for tracks with UK MC Sway, but it’s now an instrumental project. We won’t lie, the other tracks on this EP slide a bit far into stadium rave territory for us, but this one – a healthy dose of body-rocking warehouse electro – does the business and then some. It’s out on 22nd June – you can preorder on the Division site or iTunes.

This one is a melodic future style joint with some luscious tipper style bass drops. I heard Perkulat0r drop an earlier version of this tune at Envision Festival in Costa Rica earlier this year and it blew my mind. I was like I need that tune, hes said it wasnt finished yet you wanna finish it up and I jumped on the opurtunity. It is also a Collab with the homie "Of The Trees" from Portland. I instantly thought this tune would be a perfect ending to the album, so I put it last although it prolly deserves to be higher up in the tracklisting haha
