Russian downtempo duo Zaranka & Maliander are new names to yours truly, but they impress greatly with this release on Greek labal Kraak. 'Dust', in its Original form, is a soulful, downtempo affair sitting somewhere between Balearica, trip-hop and pop, and comes accompanied by a matching instrumental. S'good, but it's 'Outside The Box' that snatches the gold, as the duo take on a moody, cinematic instrumental from German experimental electronic producer Paradeigma and transform it into a wistful, melancholy epic that wouldn't have disgraced the mighty Fleetwood Mac in their mid-late 70s heyday. Outstanding stuff!
