The 4th release from Saint Michael features friend and collaborator Monsters Are Myth out of Raleigh, NC. While they’ve released one other track together which MAM produced (Dying on the Inside) and have more on the way, this is the first release with both artists featured on the track. MAM takes the vocal duties on the hook while SM takes the verses. A collaboration born from quarantine, unemployment, and a need for a creative outlet for the lyrics they were writing. Giving Up takes on a life of it’s own from the second it starts, with an eerie synth sequence and ghostly whispers that quickly turn into a heavy hitting trap beat with booming 808s complete with shrill, commanding hi hats. The opening line “I hope tomorrow never comes” sets the tone for Saint Michael’s verses, which are full of his trademark self deprecating humor.

Composed some years ago now, this track was inspired by the final episode of Blackadder when they went 'over the top' to almost certain death. I could never begin to imagine the horror those brave souls from all sides suffered, the driving beat represents the 10's of 1000's of beating hearts, the wailing synths..... the cries...the machine gun fire.....It's not much but it's my way of remembering the sacrifices.
