2023年の感想
結局ベースミュージックだらけになってしまった．今年は非常に質の高いHalftimeに何曲も出会えたのが最高だった．選外となっているがNvctveのEPも必聴．
特に印象に残ったのはCOPYCATT - THOGGとMatens - Subliminalである．前者は俺がCOPYCATTに期待するものが完璧に表れていた．1stでまさしくHalftimeの手本と言うべきフローと美しい低域で視聴者を掴み，2nd(1:18)から入ってくるウワモノの音使いのセンスが良くて爆発．文句のつけようがない．
結構DnBは聴いてきたつもりだが，Matens - Subliminalはとても新しい体験だった．それはスネアがリズムを先導している点，ミックスが非常にタイトである点にあると考えられる．更に某氏にPolyrhythmicな点が良いのではないかと指摘して頂いた．多くのDnBは，スネアが2,4拍目で鳴ることをアンカーとし，ベースによってグルーヴを生み出すが，本作はむしろ逆で，ベースのリズムを一定にし，明瞭なトランジェントを持つタイトなスネアを聴かせるという構造になっている．細かいスネアのループは，Halftime的なグルーヴを持っていることにも気づく（2,4拍目ではなく，3拍目に必ず強めのベロシティを持つスネアが鳴っている）．
