During rather dark and isolated times, Yotah and Voichek gathered in a small bassement to consult about their longtime love for downtempo techno. Soon they found themselfs spending countless hours in said place, often losing track of time and space, while taking their own approach on slow but yet energetic dance music, adding some dubby elements aswell. During this time they were able to learn quite a lot about music and how they could produce it, dealing with technical challenges and how they could manage to work in close collaboration while growing and thus changing as individuals aswell. Cut a rug EP presents the beginning of a deep friendship and an ever inspiring journey through sound and time.

Here's a premiere of our friend @sakuro-saf for our friends @randomcollectivecr.


❖ Tonfigur, like Sakuro's music has a double meaning. 

In German, it translates to a clay figure, while also the word "ton" can be used in reference to a sound. The shaping of sound as substance is of particular interest to Sakuro, as you can hear in his debut album.

The double meaning you will hear, is regarding the play of dark and light, electronic and organic. With deep, booming bottom end, and sparkling and floating horns and percussion. Down-pitched and distorted vocal samples, paired with clear and crisp vocal contributions. 

Sakuro has spared no detail, there's something almost secretive and esoteric about the LP, it's a heavy listen that will leave you feeling light. Yes, it can do just that.

Cosmopolitanism is creeping into the bedroom studios of producers worldwide.
Romanski is another agent evolving transcultural hybrids, which blend from retained folkways to modern aged club grooves.
A mixture of electronic beats in a rigid machine order and handmade organic moments woven together to form an eclectic sound. With a bit of drama, the hamburg based dj & producer Romanski, invites you on a diverse journey with his unique vision of club music.
Balearic groove patterns accompanied by repetitive bongo motives & dimmed synth themes flow along the 4 tracks (2 of them featured on 7" vinyl) of this EP. The title track "Karma Calling" is a passionate homage to Mulatu Astatke, "Tagh Tagh" is surrounded by an Iranian children’s song, "Gaugin" features a Tahitian vocoder line about the french painter and on "Ants" Romanski reflects on lyrics that came to him when resident at a sanatorium years ago.
Romanski is using his custom sound range & tools to express his downbeat grooves in this well balanced release. Hide below or turn around the umbrella with devotion and delight.
