Once again, you are sensing correctly that the vibes of Interbay's daily new music drops is getting darker...probably as I'm anticipating what might get posted for the upcoming spooky week, and that darkness is seeping through a bit early.  

This is pretty straight forward drum and bass.  As is typical for an Interbay track, I've crammed as much as I possibly can into the track--ambient wash keys, synth pop keys, three different kinds of bass, dozens of breaks, a movie snippet (bonus Interbay points if you know what the movie is!), and some very dark spoken word sections.  

...and a shot of adrenaline to boot!  

This hyper-caffeinated track has a rather ironic theme--that of surrender...and peace.  

The cognitive dissonace of being hyper aware, hyper active, and clear of thought--is more than a bit scary.  

I should point out that the subject of this theme, the source of the spoken word sections (but not the movie clip) is unreliable.  To put it another way, he's wrong in the advice he gives.  

What makes life meaningful is to accept that life won't be perfect, that we'll all have dreams that never came true and fears that did, that happiness can be fleeting...but is more precious because of that.  

If you never breathe, you never live.  And, however dark my personal emotional and mental state has EVER gotten, I've always believed (and will always believe) that life is worth the risk.    

I mean, without life...there would be no Interbay--and we can't have THAT!

Addictive Behaviour are famed for two artist recruitment methods. One is representing prominent established producers within the sub genres they push. The other is nurturing fresh emerging talent as they are about to break onto the scene. Nami is the latter of these. A relative newcomer to the world of D&B, yet one of the finest and most creative musical engineers you will have the pleasure of listening to this year, or, dare we say it, decade! This December he delivers 4 compositions displaying a rare mix of dynamic atmospherics and ingenious production with his debut EP, 'Galaxy Swimming'.

Vicious Cycle. Rolling in with a sense of momentum as a flowing pad and spiralling synth lead us up to another contrasting drop. This time we're treated to a pulsating and mood evoking sub and drums pattern. A murky rumbling rhythm that will be making heads roll in the basements and archways of underground clubs and dugouts across the globe for the foreseeable future.

OKULI is the collaborative Drum & Bass/Neurofunk project of two Melbourne based producers Angus Green and Tabula Rasa / Schwarr (Michael Kesa).

Both artists are already established and respected contributors to the Australian bass music scene, with a number of successful releases with independent label Adapted Records. However, Okuli displays a fresh approach to the duo's production, combining their previous experience with new techniques that results in tight and gritty composition.

Okuli's music is best described as rich, snarling basslines, tight and hard-hitting drums, coarse de-tuned leads and intricate rhythms. It incorporates elements from artists such as Phace, Mefjus, Billain, Emperor, Noisia and other heavyweights into a polished, yet unique sound.

With support building for these two young producers from the likes of Twisted Audio, Mindtech records and many others, you can expect to see, and hear, a lot more from them in the near future.
