This song is based on an excellent instrumental track by Akira Nakajima: https://soundcloud.com/akira_nakajima/sweetsoulbaby who has very kindly given me permission to work with it. There was something about Akira's track that felt very cinematic to me, and I was inspired to add quite a lot of strings and other sounds/textures to extend its cinematic-ness (I know that isn't a word) even further - and I ended up putting a lot of experimentation into this one before it sounded reasonably 'right' (to me at least). Not sure what anyone else is going to think of it though.

This is another track from my 2013 backlog, and I must thank Phil McWalter for his 'less is more' suggestion that I remove a bit of 'backwards' vocal from the end of an earlier mix of this track. He was absolutely right.

A valued Soundcloud contact, Terry Fesler ( http://soundcloud.com/honochenokeh ) left a comment on my first "wip" posting of this, saying "Definitely got "Down in the Boondocks" by Billy Joe Royal out of the intro! ". Well, I did have a 'previously owned' , scratched and crackly 45rpm of that song in my teens (early 70's)  (when I was 'supposed' to be into heavy rock).

Anyone can see why Terry homed in on that track, but I have to say, "Close, but no cigar..." ! In fact, the snippet I used came from '24 hours from Tulsa" by Gene Pitney, http://youtu.be/jIjUaxP7PPE
but how anyone could tell both riffs apart, heard in isolation, is beyond me. 
I thank Terry for reminding of a secret pleasure I had as a head-banging, know-nothing teenager.
