"Ode to Joy" is the choral finale of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony which was written between 1817 and 1823--when Beethoven was losing his hearing.  By the time it was first performed, on May 7, 1824, Beethoven was totally deaf and could not conduct it.  He stood next to the conductor to direct the tempo but was unable to hear the audience applause at the end.  The poem Beethoven used for his choral finale was written by Schiller

This is my digital arrangement of the high-energy can-can from Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld. This festive, quirky music is bound to lift even the most dreary of spirits.

All parts were recorded using EastWest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra.

The bustling overture to CARMEN bursts out of the gate with lively music from the bullfighting scene of Act 4, interrupted by the well-known tune of Escamillo’s “Toreador Song.” Pier Giorgio Morandi conducts the orchestra of Seattle Opera.
