A dynamic Americana duo from Kansas City, Mikal Shapiro and Chad Brothers deliver classic country and folk music alongside critically acclaimed originals. Strengthened by Shapiro’s lyricism and Brothers world-class flat picking, the couple showcases their craft with simple harmonies, guitar interplay and good chemistry.

Chad Brothers was raised in Winfield, Kansas, home of the International Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival. His approach to the guitar reflects a love for classic melodies, rock and roll and bluegrass flatpicking.

Mikal Shapiro is a Kansas City songwriter influenced by traditional folk, psych rock, lounge and old time spirituals. She has toured extensively across the United States and has recorded five critically acclaimed albums. Kansas City Star critic Tim Finn chose her new release “The Musical” to be one of his top five albums of 2015. A third generation storyteller, she draws inspiration from her travels, love life, and the state of the Union.

For as young as he is, Jordan Butler manages to draw from a lifetime of experience. The metaphors he uses and his ability to wear his heart on his sleeve is not what you would expect from a songwriter his age. Jordan’s many songs are the result of 24 years of growth, change, and exploration. His extraordinary sense of self-awareness allows him to take these experiences and turn them into beautiful songs. His journey so far has been long and hard, but there is no limit to how far this gift can take him. Kansas Native, Jordan Butler, is on the forefront of a new age of American Songwriters.

An Americana trio of longtime friends and collaborators, Kansas City's Old Sound crafts traditional and original acoustic folk music. Led by Grady Keller's imaginative storytelling, Old Sound travels through song with solid three-part harmonies and evocative compositions. The trio is strengthened by the bluegrass flat-picking style of Chad Brothers and the playful doghouse groove of Greg Herrenbruck on upright bass. With musical roots in their hometown Winfield, Kansas, Brothers and Herrenbruck cut their teeth in the campground picking circles of the Walnut Valley Festival. Paired with Keller's colorful lyricism, Old Sound's approach makes for easy front porch listening.
