Releasing a studio album pretty much each year from 2006 Hyper aka Guy Hatfield is well known for his use of live instrumentation such as guitars and bass fused with modern electronic elements. He has also performed as a band under the name Hyper Moniker, featuring Prodigy members Leeroy Thornhill and Jim Davies. Their first studio album We Control advanced Hyper to the stages of festivals throughout the world. Nowadays Hyper produces music for well known movies and TV shows as well as his own music.

One of the pioneers in the early 2000's breaks scene Lee Coombs became a popular artist and DJ after releasing music on the world renowned breaks label Finger Lickin Records. Lee has a special style in music so when the Tech Funk genre started to flair up he fitted right in with that close to 4 on the floor and a hint of breakbeat. Lee is still around today and has been airing streams over the internet during these CO-VID times.

This mix was recorded for Triple J Radio Australia in 2004 and is an example of Lee's musical style.

British-born Lee Coombs has been involved in the music industry since 1989, when he got his start at acid house parties in London and Cambridge. He went on to run several of his own labels including the legendary Thrust Recordings and collaborate with some of the most respected artists and producers in the world, combining breaks, house, electro, techno, and acid to create groundbreaking mixes in his own signature style. Coombs is a talented and innovative fan-favorite around the world, whether he’s releasing music through his own Thrust label or as part of the Lot49 team, or mesmerizing massive audiences filling dance floors from Australia to Burning Man. 2014 has been a busy year for Coombs! The massive single ‘Lilly in the Sky’ remained up the top of the Beatport charts for many months and has gone on to be one of the biggest selling Breaks tracks of 2014. Coastal Breaks : Mixed by Adam Freeland : (Disc 1) released 1996

As part of our up coming 'Ten' project (which celebrates ten years of MC Shureshock and I having worked together) we are digging through the digital crates to find a bunch of old mixes we have done. This first one is a personal fave of mine. It's a mix I did for a magazine called 'Remix' in 2000 and was one of the first 'official' mixes I ever did. It may be from 2000, and it may now be 10 years old, but damn the beats still sound fresh! Oh and this was pre-Ableton days! i.e. it was done by mixing records together on two Technics turntables and a mixer (via pasting a hundred million takes together mind you!). With the world in partial lockdown, this 1-hour LIVE set was specially curated and performed in June 2020 to celebrate Glastonbury 2020 for my friends at the legendary GLADE stage.

I used 8 Ableton decks, 6 channels of live keyboard overdubs, an APC40, Launchkey 61 and 4 full days of my time to lovingly piece this one together. 

If anyone's able to correctly identify each component part of this mix, I'll send you my entire record collection. Muah!!
