It’s 2008 and breaks is booming! At the forefront of the scene were a trio known as Aquasky aka Brent Newitt, Kieron Bailey and Dave Wallace. With releases on many, many respected labels and djing all over the world, they really were pioneers of the scene in what what was a bloody exciting time in music.

13 years on and a lot has changed. Brent now runs a series of labels on the Jungle Scene (Vinyl Fanatiks) repressing old tunes as well as new. When Global Breaks Festival asked him to come out of retirement and do a set, how could he say no!

So here it is folks in all it’s glory. 1 hour of classics from back in the day. Bursting full of nostalgia, this is our 6th Day of Christmas!

Vandal aka Sam Evans was a pioneering Tech Funk producer and DJ with a bunch of releases on such labels as LOT49, Global Underground, Plastic Raygun, and U&A. His Punk Rock attitude to the music and scene has seen him play all over the world and gain a large fan base in the mid 2000's. This DJ mix was a promo that got sent to me back in 2008.

Back in the early 2000's mates of mine Andrew Edwards & Ian Gordon commonly known now as the Beatslappaz ran a forum based community for Breaks called Soundbreaks, a Perth based forum where we could all hang out and basically talk shit about each other and music. The forum gained a worldwide reach with various like minded people, artists and DJ's alike.

This mix from them was aired via the Soundbreaks Podcast, mixed LIVE after a few beverages and highlights some of the finer Nuskool Breaks tunes doing the rounds at that time.

MalFunkShun RIPEcast Exclusive Guest Mix

Slyde were a UK DJ/producer duo named Robin Twelftree and Jason Laidback both with a well established musical background. The duo started the Slyde project back in 2002 and soon caught the eye of Finger Lickin Records a label which they called home for quite a few years and a place where they released their unique sound of Funky high tempo breaks including the well known track "Slipperty Slide". Gaining a huge following the duo toured bringing their unique sound all over the world. This mix was a promotional item for Finger Lickin Records back in 2010.

NAPT were an award winning Breakbeat duo from London UK. They won 3 awards at Breakspoll 2009 including, best producer, best track and best remix plus best breaks track at the 2009 Beatport music awards. This mix was at the height of their careers showcasing their talent as a LIVE DJ act as well as containing some of their award winning tracks. What they are up to today i do not know .....
