As the saying goes "Let's Take It Back To The Old School"

After getting some inspiration listening to some very early Adam Freeland mixes i though i would head down the path of putting some Ableton mixes together of the very early Nu Skool Breaks & Breaks sounds. So i went on my way researching and finding some very early Breaks tracks from the years 1997 to 2001 which can be kind of annoying as online stores don't necessarily put tracks in correct release date order. This is Volume 1 of "Old Breaks Mixes", i hope you enjoy the listening journey. x :)

For Volume 2 of Old Breaks Mixes i have collected a bunch of tunes from varying years, some are known others a little more obscure and rare. From Nu Skool Breaks to the Old School Breaks tunes of the early 90's with a bit of Progressive Breaks thrown in i guess there is something for everyone, hope you guys enjoy the listening experience.

Pecoe - Old Breaks Mixes Volume 2

Volume 3 of Old Breaks Mixes is all about the slapping of phat beats. Tracks in this mix are from around 2005 a time when intros and outros had a long drawn out section making it easier to beat mix, so you'll find some long drawn out mixes along the lines that Sasha was well known for in the early 90's and that progressive type of sound. The mix itself has some beaut tracks that have been lost in time from Progressive to Tech Funk to Nu Skool Breaks, it's a high energy and upfront Ableton mix to listen too.

For Volume 4 of Old Breaks Mixes I've gone with a selection of tunes from around the year 2000 an experimental time for breaks with the genre Nu Skool Breaks really hitting the EDM scene hard with a bunch of producers trying to define their own style. Some great rare old tunes in this Ableton Mix most from vinyl record rips as they never got a proper digital release, we are talking late 90's here at times. Hope you guys enjoy the step back in time.

Another epic night in downtown Orlando rave history. The Edge nightclub had one of the longest running, best weeklies called "Sunday Skool." The place was absolutely packed all night, every Sunday. The drink specials were ridiculously cheap and the djs Cliff T, Icey and Baby Anne always blew the place up. When the club was finally sold to new owners in 96 we had one last hurrah. This set was recorded during Cliff T's slot on the last night of the edge. For awhile it was the most coveted mix tape floating around Orlando if you could get your hands on it. Here it is again in all it's glory. Enjoy.

Old Breaks Mixes Volume 5 is again about the early Nu Skool Breaks sounds from the late 90's to 2000's with lots of atmospheres and resampled amen breakbeats. Opening a new chapter of the Outcast series, we’re welcoming a freshly formed duo from Northeast England — DADs @dadsmusicuk

Heavily influenced by the deeper sounds of the underground bass music scene, DADs’ production thrives on manipulated and saturated emotive synths, grooving percussion, and robotic vocal chops to capture a poignant sound. Worth mentioning that they have already supported the likes of Overmono, Ben UFO, Jane Fitz, Objekt, Giant Swan, Batu and Kessler.

The final part of my ‘rave dreaming’ mix series. Just like the others it centres around Acid House, Oldskool Rave, Breakbeat Hardcore & early 90s Jungle Tekno. There are a load of recent releases in the mix too though - so expect some Electro, Bass, Techno, Dub Step & mind bending Breakcore to keep you on your toes. As always it’s is a straight up single take DJ set thrown down using two technics 1200s and a Rane 62 mixer. I've thoroughly loved making this mix-series, taking a trip back to the numerous rave genres that've been pumped into my lug-holes over the decades. There'll be more mixes to come from me for sure, but until then, hope you enjoy this one! x

Here is our annual selection from last year. Once again there were many great tracks to choose from, and once again it was a painful process. But the two hour limit is non-negotiable. It's a purely subjective selection, and the main criteria are that we used the track regularly in our DJ sets and that it has the right vibe for us even in hindsight.
