I was lucky enough to host and promote Sonia and Toby in Malaysia in 2001 when they were touring that year. I had lost this promo CD a few years ago. Listening to it brough back positive memories of them both. They were kind, warm and completely supporitive of people following their calling and dreams. I was sad to learn a few years ago Sonia passed. She and Toby taught me life lessons in respecting deep relationships and being free with laughter.

Originally released on vinyl only, these three tracks were B-sides of singles that appeared on the 1995 classic Hardkiss double album Delusions of Grandeur. If Delusions … was the bomb, then these three moody remixes are some radioactive fallout from that initial blast of electronic dance music creativity. 

“Raincry” by God Within was Scott Hardkiss’ breakthrough single. It began with a tribal chant sample in a small garage in Twin Peaks, San Francisco. Within the year, that chant was being dropped by DJs all around the world. This mix has a slower burn than the A-side, but all the epic emotion and drama. 

“3 Moods in a Gurple Parden” is Robbie Hardkiss’ remix of Gavin Hardkiss’ first single as Hawke. Here, the unique tech / break / house meditation “3 Nudes in a Purple Garden” gets funked up with latin percussion and a stomping bass line added to the ethereal melodies of the original. 

“Steal From The Rich” is also a Robbie remix. This one is a slowed down, funked up reworking of God Within’s “The Phoenix.” Recorded in Nottingham at DIY Studios, this DC Go-Go inspired mix is quite the departure from the big, banging mixes on the original single by Rabbit in the Moon and Scott Hardkiss.

Considered one of the pioneers of the Nu Skool Breaks sound and an innovative person in trying out new sounds Adam Freeland had many a hit back in the day specially with on his own label Marine Parade with which he promoted other top Breaks acts in the early 2000's. This mix was recorded for Australia's Triple J The Club back in 2007.

In the early days of Breakzlinkz i once recieved an email from a lovely lady called Sonia Push asking me to help promote various Breakbeat artists that were clients of hers as she run her own PR music company called Push Promotions. From then on Sonia would send over to me exclusive material including DJ mixes and tracks with which i would help promote by posting on Breakzlinkz, Soundcloud and various music forums from back in the day. Unfortunately and sadly Sonia passed away a few years back so i'm quite proud to still have this promo CD for a tour she did around Australia back in September 2001 with her life partner and DJ/Producer partner Toby. Sonia and Toby make up their artists name SOTO and this mix is a rare Botchit Breaks Promo only CD.

Steve Jeffery aka Pimpsoul is a one man band, producer and DJ who had a heavy influence in the early Nufunk scene (before it became Ghetto Funk). He has worked in collaborations with Bomb Strikes label onwer Mooqee gaining a number one in the Beatport Hip Hop charts and a clever YouTube hit along side DJP for their take on Duck Sauce's Barbara Streisand. 

This mix is from the Summer of 2009 a prime time for the sound of Nufunk which can be heard in this bass heavy party funk set.

The Glastonbury Festival is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, UK. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and many other arts. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas.

This mix was part of Annie Nightingale's Glastonbury Breakbeat Special back in June 2004.

EK is Eddie Rasguido raised in Melbourne, Australia and grew up on a staple diet of breakdancing, hip hop and graffiti. Starting up his own crew RKS (Ryming, Kuttin and Scratching) Eddie found his home behind the turntables and by 1991 RKS had performed at the usual local underage jams, a small amount of club shows culminating in a Second Place in the DMC Competitions (entered in the group category). By the end of his High School years Eddie was sold on music as a career and so after completing Year 12 he enrolled in the Melbourne School of Audio Engineering and a year later graduated.

Eddie was still making hip hop and had formed a production team called Rebel Base with DJ Excel. His musical taste soon became more diverse starting off by listening to Techno and he soon purchased his own analogue keyboard. Messing around with hip hop beats he was now crafting a hybrid of breaks and beats sounds, that still had the hook of Hip Hop.

His debut CD, Decoder and the lead track "Future Nation" was instantly picked up by Triple J Radio Australia and lead to the inclusion of 3 tracks on JJJ’s Mix Up Tweak compilation. In his spare time he was often asked to provide cuts and scratches for Sonicanimation’s recordings and was also a fixture when the sonic boys expanded their line up for special shows, like Live At The Wireless and the supports to the Chemical Bros.
