Adam Freeland - Kazantip at 5am (EG Podcast #405)

On September 10 - International Suicide Prevention Day - Brian Tagalik released his first ever single, titled "The Struggle". The song is a story about the hardships and struggles of Inuit peoples, seen through the eyes of 3 generations: the grandfather, the father, and Brian himself.

Here is what Brian had to say about his inspiration for the song:

"As a child, everyday was a struggle, not for food or shelter but for life and as I came of age and realized the trials my parents and their parents had survived it put my generation into a position of action. Almost a rebound effect naturally in betted in humans to gather our senses and make sense of the world around us, This (song) represents the battle and the fight the three separate generations encountered and our ability to gather together to fight against the plague that has Become Suicide. Together as Inuit we must Unite to fight for the Cause and save our Dying Culture"

The song had it's original debut at the Alianait Arts Festival 2013. Brian entered and won first place at the Battle of the Bands contest, and had many members of the audience (as well as the contest jury) in tears with the song's emotional and powerful message.

In August, Brian teamed up with manager Nastania Mullin, music producer Thor Simonsen (both from Iqaluit), as well as singer/songwriter Kelly Fraser (Nunavut Youtube sensation from Sanikiluaq) to complete the song. 

Brian has many other songs written, and is currently working on his first album.

About Deetox:

With her big passion for hardstyle, Diana Zwerwer aka Deetox started her musical career back in 2010. In her first year she'd accumulated an impressive fourty gigs - from smaller events to bigger ones such as Indicator, Reset and the huge Ground Zero Festival. In short, she rocks the decks with her own kind of hardstyle - hard, raw and outside the box!

In 2012 Defqon 1, Alcatrazz, Loudness and XXlerator Raw were her highlights. And outside of Holland, she was getting noticed too - booked in Scotland and Switzerland for 2012. 

In 2013 Deetox is booked multiple times nearly every weekend, which is amazing for such a young DJ. Decibel Outdoor Festival, Dreamfields Festival, Intents Festival, Emporium, Bass Academy are already added to her already impressive list of gigs.

As well as DJing, Diana also produces her own music. In 2011 she had her first release on Theracords together with DJ Thera, called 'Silly Games'. She also made a remix of a track by the famous Dutch group The Party Animals. She kicked of 2012 with her first solo release, titled 'Once Upon A Time'. In 2012 'Black Magic' followed which pleased the very rawest of party visitors.
 
For 2013 Deetox conquered the charts with 'Here I Come', 'Contact' (ft. Phrantic) and 'Android' (ft. Delete).

Deetox is a fast rising star with a clear vision: becoming a well-known and respected artist within the hardstyle scene!

In 2008 i did a promotional mix just for fun called http://soundcloud.com/wain-johnstone/donktagious-wain-johnstone . Full of cheesy, silly fun bounce tracks that you cant take seriously but at the same time make you smile! It became ridiculously popular! I gave away over 100 hard copies and it has been downloaded/played nearly 2000 times.

I followed it up with a sequel called http://soundcloud.com/wain-johnstone/donklicious-wain-johnstone. Again it had the same crazy silly feel to it and was very popular!

Two of the biggest fans of these mixes are Ru & Jamie that run 'We Love Bounce' which I am resident for. They practically begged me to do a third instalment as a promo mix for one of their nights.

I had to scrape the barrel to find tracks that are the right flavour and I needed to do a lot of editing but I managed it and Donktastic was born!

All these cds are just a bit of fun and they are perfect after party material! So disengage brain, grab yourself a big slice of cheese, camp it up and download it now!
