Biography

Genuinely one of the most influential producers & DJ’s in the UK house scene from its original days in the early eighties, Ricky Morrison has earned a reputation for delivering big performances and big records and is set to release a wave of new material in 2016/17.

In 1984 Ricky Morrison began spinning at London’s infamous ‘Dance Wicked’, promoted by SOUL II SOUL, and went on to be resident at ‘HIGH ON HOPE’ with the legend that is now Norman Jay MBE. Two of the UK’s most seminal dance clubs was a hell of a start and Ricky established a name for himself within the exploding house scene that developed into the monster it is today. Ricky has gone on to play at many of the best clubs in the world, on every continent, and very much has a style of his own that stands him out from the crowd, a style that saw him play the main room at the Southport Weekender five years in a row as the event was returning to its soulful roots in the late 90’s. Also a regular at the Ministry Of Sound, Fabric & Pacha Ricky developed a sound for the big rooms these venues offered that filled the space without betraying his soulful roots. This made Ricky a valuable commodity as the US House scene took off and many promoters of previously underground events began taking over the High Street needing a DJ that could cross over the soulful sound to a bigger audience.

With long-time friend and music partner, Fran Sidoli, Ricky produced under the name M&S and was responsible for many of the ground breaking releases that helped take dance music from the back streets to the high streets including the monster hit ‘Salsoul Nugget’ which reached No 6 in the National Chart in 2001. Other big M&S Productions included their debut, ‘Keep On’ with Jay Ella Ruth & ‘Special’ by Robbie Craig, both released by Public Demand, the hugely successful ‘Don’t Give Up’ with Michelle Weeks and their timeless remix of the classic ‘Moment Of My Life’ by Bobby D’Ambrosio. The list of M&S productions and remixes is endless and they were a backbone of many of the trailblazing events that took the sound to the mainstream where it sits comfortably today however Ricky stood out equally as a DJ alongside such US heavyweights as Masters At Work, Tony Humphries, David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. 

Ricky’s style is unique and unlike the majority of the UK’s soulful house fraternity, often described as a US sound with a British twist, and anyone who’s heard him play will associate with this summary. He was so influenced by the sound coming out of the US that, in 1991, he quit his day job as a computer engineer and opened London’s legendary ‘Catch A Groove Records’ in Soho and the exclusive access this gave him to new material simply added to his effectiveness and reputation. 


Ricky has played alongside an almost comprehensive who’s who of the DJ superstars that shaped todays dance music and he is still much loved and sought after by clubs looking for a quality that is increasingly hard to find amongst the crowd. With a repertoire that includes the deeper sounds so in vogue today and the classics of yesterday, mixed in a style that is immediately recognisable as his own, Ricky Morrison is once again back in the studio making beats for where he most loves to be, behind the decks performing !

The Remedy Project is the imprint of London-based tastemaker Melvo Baptiste. Throughout Melvo’s decade in broadcasting and A&R he has shared his musical DNA of soul, rare groove, funk, disco and house with enthusiasts around the world, while making connections with contemporary artists on the peripheries of these genres in his quest to become the next indie champion. 

The Remedy Project is dedicated to the development of those young, forward-thinking, genre-bending and ambitious musicians. The label’s founding principles are to offer a home and a platform to these like-minded artists.

Dj Le Baron discovered his love for House Music at the age of 16. The radio station Couleur3 and the legendary ‘Pump it up’ and ‘Groovelift’ parties left their indelible mark.

Listened to Couleur3 over and over again to have a good ear for mixing. Later there was not a single ‘Groovelift’ party he missed.

His sets are well-known for their vocal and soul elements that appeal to the emotions of his party people.

Some of Dj Le Baron’s milestones in his career as a DJ have been the world-famous Streetparade in Zurich, where he animated the crowd on the Beach Love Mobile, and several performances at the popular and legendary Purple Music Nights by Jamie Lewis. He could repeatedly show his abilities as a DJ on the ‘crazy white island’ Ibiza due to his commitment and love for music.

Music has played an important role in his life since his childhood. He started early making music with his brother and, especially, loved the rhythm. Later on he took lessons in percussion and ‘djembe’.

Furthermore, he released his own music on Deeptown Music, Purple Music, HSR Records and Soulful Evolution as well some remixes on various labels such as Deeptown Music, Look At You, Phunky Rabbit, Soulful Evolution,Rivera Records to name a few.

The vocals in his productions evoke his emotions and stimulate his ideas, and the texts and instruments are well-matched. His tracks reflect Dj Le Baron’s passion for ‘Soulful-House-Music’ which is clearly noticeable and audible in his music. Dj Le Baron is a peace-loving person, also in his work, in which the ‘jazzy’, ‘soul’ and ‘funky’ elements contribute to his pursuit of perfect harmony.

Mark Stone – DJ/Producer/Remixer – born and raised in Basel/Switzerland was already enrolled at the Music Academy for Percussion lessons at the age of seven. Time passed by and Mark's passion for beats and rhythm grew.
 
1992 he came across artists such as Incognito, Brand New Heavies, NuYorican Soul, Dj Kenny Carpenter from Studio 54, Larry Levans Paradise Garage and the legendary Masters at Work who inspired him as a percussionist through their use of beats.

Mark's first DJ gig was at the old Bell Company Tower in Basel in 1994 and only a week later he got the once in a life-time chance to play a set at the legendary After Hours Club – The Downstairs. That’s where his DJ career kicked off and he already shared the turntables with the likes of Mandrax, Boris Dlugosch, Terry Hunter and David Morales.

End of 2003 he co-founded the weekly UDM Radio Show going ON AIR in April 2004 for the first time. Mark Stone’s weekly mixed sound selection of the hottest and newest in soulful and NY House is still running and hosting a Who-is-Who of the House Music Industry.

The UDM Show is the proud “Official Media Partner” of Europe’s biggest soulful Event: “SOUTHPORT WEEKENDER”. As UDM frontman he played in clubs in cities like Miami – Dubai – London – Southport - Cardiff and many other. 




Born in Brooklyn, Tony Humphries first fueled the world of house music with his epic stint on KISS FM, as one of its greatest Mastermixers; paired with his residency at the legendary club Zanzibar.
Tony & Zanzibar were synonymous with a new soulful electronic sound.  His signature eclectic mixing talent led to Tony’s own production of what became known as The Zanzibar Sound or the Jersey Sound, with his hands on nearly 500 productions, including several gold hit remixes for the likes of Indeep & Janet Jackson.  

Tony's musical talents are rooted in a creatively diverse and musically driven performing family; including his father, a Colombian émigré Rene ‘El Grandé Combo’ Humphries, a prominent bandleader in New York, who worked alongside peers like Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri.  This creative diversity inspired his lifelong passion and direction. 

In 1998, Tony founded his own imprint Yellorange Records, a subsidiary label of Strictly Rhythm. Yellorange releases were renowned for fusing soulful vocals, Afro-Cuban flavors & Italo-grooves.  After Strictly Rhythm's closure, he launched, Tony Records showcasing younger artists and producers of soulful music with a modern form.  

After a sabbatical from Tony's own production, Frankie Knuckles enticed Tony back into the studio, where he has been going strong, with releases on Nocturnal Groove, Moulton, and his own label, with a two part EP HouseWork, blending blues, gospel and  worksongs into a brilliantly contemporary setting.

Over the years, Tony has stretched his mixing arm across the globe, playing in countless clubs and festivals, with residencies and guest spots throughout the years in the likes of Ministry of Sound, Pacha in Ibiza, Echos in Rimini, Fabric, SmartBar and his Le Bain in NYC. 

Tony Humphries has remained timeless with his signature lure of the dance floor, blending the new house sound into his gospel, deep, tribal sound.

David Morales is a globally revered American DJ, a Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter, and businessman. He has produced and remixed over 1000+ records for an all-star roster of multi-platinum artists, including Mariah Carey, U2, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. A true legend of house music, the global phenomenon and penetration of dance music into Top 40 radio would not have been possible without him.
More recently, Morales launched DIRIDIM Records in 2018. With this new label, David is signing and developing new talent - and naturally, releasing some of his own music. DIRIDIM celebrates all kinds of dance music, ranging from the classic house music sound Morales is known for to straight-up electronic sonorities. In January 2022, Morales released "Life Is a Song", his first full-length studio album in almost 10 years. Produced during the pandemic lockdown, the album featuring artists, Mr. V., Blakkat, Elle Cato, Michelle Perera, Lea Lorien, Blondewearingblack among others, quickly gained an international following eager to hear more and skyrocketed up Traxsource's album chart to #1 for three weeks. His unquenchable thirst for newness is precisely why this native New Yorker remains at the top of his game into the new decade - “It’s about keeping an open mind,” as Morales says. In 2020, due to the global pandemic and inability to travel, he launched, Sunday Mass, a livestreaming show on Twitch to entertain his fans across the world. The 2021 IMS Business Report based on data, cited him as one of the dance music artists who experienced online success during the pandemic. Into post-pandemic times and with the reopening of clubs all over the world, David continued his legacy as a native New Yorker and trailblazing DJ, constantly gracing the best international stages with recent standout performances such as the Hacienda Warehouse Project in Manchester, Clockwork Orange in London, Stereo Montreal, EDC Vegas, Hi Ibiza, and After Caposile Venice. In 2024, David Morales is holding a residency at the legendary Pikes Hotel in Ibiza during the summer. A pinnacle in his repertoire is also the ongoing success of the Sunday Mass parties in NY, featuring both club nights and legendary boat parties during the summer. These events stand as a testament to Morales's enduring impact as a true legend on the house music scene. On top of this all, David is on the brink of releasing a new LP, 'Sunday Mass Vol. 1', the inaugural installment in a series with more to come in 2024. As we venture into 2024, expect a flurry of news and projects, with the new year expected to be a more than ever prolific one for David Morales.

David Morales has transcended musical genres to create a global brand. His music productions have appeared in popular films and television shows, including The Devil Wears Prada, Ninja Turtles 2, Don’t Mess With the Zohan, and Star (TV Series). His DIRIDIM radio show can be heard on Ibiza Global Radio and numerous other stations around the world which is streamed to millions of listeners around the world. In 2016, Morales was the lead judge on “Top DJ” a national television series broadcast on Italia 1. When it came time to wear his fashion model hat, Morales appeared in a global advertising campaign for luxury design house, Iceberg. 

HISTORY
David Morales honed his skills as a DJ in the 1980s and 1990s at such legendary clubs as the Ozone Layer, Paradise Garage, Red Zone, Zanzibar, Tunnel and Club USA just to name a few. When the remix and DJ work began taking off, Morales teamed up with house music legend, Frankie Knuckles, and For The Record DJ Pool founder/NYC nightlife impresario, Judy Weinstein, to create Def Mix Productions.
Morales’ prolific production career kicked into high gear in the 1990s with the release of his solo debut album, “The Program” by David Morales & The Bad Yard Club. In the late-1990s, with hundreds of remixes (Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover,” Janet Jackson’s “Throb,” Alison Limerick’s “Where Love Lives,” CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” Jamiroquai’s “Space Cowboy”, Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams,” Robert Owens’ “I’ll Be Your Friend,” under his belt, Morales recorded the groundbreaking house classic, “Needin’ U,” under the alias David Morales Presents The Face. Morales’ second album, “2 Worlds Collide,” arrived in 2005, followed six years later, by his third album, “Changes.” 
David Morales was nominated for his first Grammy Award in 1996 as a Producer on Mariah Carey’s album, ‘Daydream’ for the song ‘Fantasy’. In 1998 he won a Grammy Award for “Remixer of the Year.”
Though Morales’ past is surely one for music’s history books, the DJ-turned-artist always has his eyes firmly focused on the future—on what lies ahead. He keeps an ear to the ground, regularly exploring new music, new artists, and hotly tipped DJs who might inspire him to “go and do my homework.” He happily embraces the new generation of clubgoers. “They don’t care about yesterday”, he says, with a knowing smile.
