Releasing my debut album has been one of my most meaningful life-experiences, and apart from the times playing my livesets, I seem to never have found a right moment to share it personally with the world. Today it has been exactly one year since the release-date, so this should be a good moment.

"Kindred Phenomena marks Mattheis' debut album. After two cosmic EPs on Nous'klaer and a mini-album on tape for Ecstatic Recordings, he now returns to Nous'klaer for his first full story. An album shaped for every occasion: driving from the city to the island, dancing in the living room, or raving at sunset. On Kindred Phenomena Mattheis picks up where he left off: 'Swell' serves as another episode of the prisms, the modular synth excursion of 'Bit Fragments' pushes his arpeggiator solos a step further, and album standout 'Ben_M' provides his most beautiful dance of melodies yet. The collective is a strong alliance between a global range of like-minded individuals coming from a diverse spectrum of artistic backgrounds. Bursting into life towards the back end of 2016, the movement of musicians and visual artists share a mutual love for wave / post-punk and dark disco sound aesthetics, inspired by the underground 80’s revolt to pop culture, and has quickly flowered into one of the to go to labels for experimental and colorful electronica.

Last august I spent few weeks in my family home in Italy with my children and my mom.

I just took with me the Subharmonicon, an Octatrack and the ELZ-1 with the idea of making a diary of those summer days and to finish and release it all the same month.

Every night, I made a sketch recorded in one take directly on the iPad; the rule is that there are no overdubs.

I also added recorded fields from the same day. It all ended up in this kind of mixtape made only from this material, finalized on tape.

They are like a drop of sweat or rain on a summer hot roof.

After his killer track z50 on the SPE:C 5 year compilation Alex R returns to us with his debut EP "Last Attempt". With dreamy submersive dub rhythms and dank breakneck drums Alex takes SPE:C to new corners of the club on these three cuts.

Crocodiles serve to remind us that, in life, we cannot always be placid. We must use the primal power of the crocodile to fight our battles ahead.
