Berlin-based DJ, producer, and mastering engineer Sebastian Genz, better known as @moomin, returns this month with his fourth full-length album on Istanbul-based label Oath. Titled 'Into The Distance', Moomin’s latest album is a mesmerising 10-track journey through the folds of ambient, breakbeat, trip-hop, and deep, melody-rich house music. Rooted in his signature sample-based approach, the album exudes warmth and nostalgia, wrapping listeners in an irresistibly immersive soundscape. After just one listen, its hypnotic rhythms and textures leave a lasting imprint, beckoning for repeated plays.

FITF Mix 001: Will You 

For the first instalment of our mix series ‘Will You’ has curated a beautiful hour long mix and we cant wait to have him join us in the woods this July.

A dedicated purveyor of deep house and dub-tinged techno, Will You spent years honing his craft as a full time resident DJ in Croatia. It was here that he founded his label Oleeva Records and went on to play shows across Europe, the UK and the USA. Since returning to the UK he’s hosted a monthly show on London’s Bloop Radio and continued curating regular releases on Oleeva that span across the spectrum of house and techno. 

He’s a versatile, technical DJ that you may hear playing anything from soothing ambient soundscapes to acid house and deep, heady techno. His own catalogue of productions is growing steadily, with an EP in 2024 on his own imprint, and most recently his “Is it 2 Late?” EP had a physical release on Berlin based Stólar with remixes from Lb Honne and Orion.

there were a few moments this year - behind the booth and on the floor - that felt really profound. each time it was that subtle, inevitable pull of loopy, restrained dance music that took led me into that state only rhythm can put you in.

this mix traces an inward-to-outward drift: a slow, glistening rise from the depth of the ocean to a sun-kissed surface, if you will.

it’s also the first club random where i mixed some vinyl. one turntable and two digital decks for now, but it already gave me a wonderful new sense of perspective and depth in mixing.

There’s something hypnotic about the way 'Closed Eyes, Gentle Move' unfolds — like walking into a clearing in the woods and realizing the forest is breathing with you. It stands out as one of the album’s heavier moments, aiming to transport you into that hazy, late-night state where the boundary between you and the music dissolves — when it’s enough to simply close your eyes and move gently.

[PREMIERE] | Will You - Closed Eyes, Gentle Move [Oleeva]

Will You, the Bristol-based producer, DJ, and founder of Oleeva Records, consistently captures our attention with his releases. We know he has been developing this particular project for some time, demonstrating patience by allowing it to breathe and returning with fresh perspectives and ideas—a dedication that is clearly reflected in the final output. The album arrives at a perfect moment for introspection, whether you're enjoying a rainy, cosy evening at home, listening to the crackle of leaves underfoot, or venturing onto a smoky dancefloor.

This 13-track album, 'Part of the Picture', covers a significant amount of ground, fully matching Will’s vision. It perfectly aligned with the period for me personally as I was preparing for multiple sets at our annual Delayed getaway in upstate New York. Stylistically it was exactly what I needed: options to travel different paths at different times of the day, using them for everything from gently warming up the dance floor—with tunnels of light shining through the windows—to providing a thoughtful lullaby for dancers on Sunday, when humans became at one with the sofa after many many hours moving their feet.

"Turbo Trip" by name, and a turbo trip it is. This track is squelchy, transcendent, and strikes that sweet spot between deep ambient house and techno. It’s dancefloor-focused - a trip, but with some oomph and turbo (still soft). Hi-hats arrive and immediately pick up the energy. As club season is well and truly in full swing, this is a number that will fill the room with warmth, taking things up a gear while retaining that soft demeanour Will sprinkles over every piece he produces.

'Part of the Picture' is released on October 24th

Almost 2 years ago exactly @Jameshenryuk stood in front of two Technic 1210s and a mixer for the first time  and quickly learnt how to make the most of them. Today, Oleeva Records has the honour of releasing the third podcast in the series, courtesy of the lovely, beautiful, humble, easy going and wonderfully talented human that is James Henry. We all feel its the best mix he's ever recorded. The mix is a truly eclectic journey that delves into the world of disco, funk, left field, lo fi and countless other genres that are championed by the Mint Tea label owner. Its a real testament to the diverse collection of music Henry has acquired over the years.  Here is what the man himself had to say about it:

"I started this mix by delving into the folders and sub folders I usually don't go when mixing. My focus was to try and use acoustic and ambient music as beginnings, bridges and ends as tools to direct the course of the mix. Filling the bulk of the mix with blends of house, techno then moving onto funk and hip hop towards the end. I made sure to cram the mix full of unreleased material as well as sound doodles I've created in the past. A lot of forthcoming material from my label Mint Tea was played so it was a perfect opportunity to see how the tunes behaved in a mix environment. Overall I think I just had a lot of fun recording this so I hope you have fun listening! Thanks!"

Oleeva Podcast Three: James Henry - In A Velvet Shelter

For the fifth instalment of our podcast series, we have Bath based Origins Resident DJ, Mantissa Co-Founder, and all round mr nice guy Tom Allman.

- Good morning Tom! The mix is incredible, thankyou! Tell us more about it, how you made it, what records you included, the title, the photo and so on. 

So I liked the idea of having to give your mix a title and creating it around that, so I used the title “Space” for mine. I like to think the mix is quite an open interpretation of that word, with some tracks reminding me of wide open natural spaces (like in the artwork for the mix), and some other tracks being a bit more ‘futuristic’ and more reminding me of Outer Space – with the focus on this being a mix ‘not for the club’ as such. The first track by Midori Takada is my favourite from the album it’s off – Through The Looking Glass; I found that album a couple of years ago and find its really nice to listen the whole way through when you just want to relax, so I thought it would be great to start this mix with it. I then go through a lot of tracks I really enjoy when chilling out that I wouldn’t normally play. I also put in a track that my mate Jake made, it’s got no name but I think it’s a sick track that works really nicely at its intended pace or slowed down, and for this mix I slowed it right down and think it fits really well. After that track, which is kind of the crescendo of the mix, I take things down a notch again with some tracks from Matt Tolfrey, DJ Sprinkles, Huerco S, and finishing on my favourite Black Sabbath tune, Planet Caravan.

- You’re the first special guest to do our podcast, your not releasing music with us, but you are pretty close to the label. What is your relationship to Oleeva?

So I’ve known Will (head of Oleeva) for a number of years now pretty much ever since I moved to Bath for University. I can’t exactly remember how we met to be honest, but Will has always been a very good friend, and he’s always so cheerful and helpful which is great! When he first told me he was going to start his own label/project you could just tell it was going to work because of his enthusiasm and positivity – and although I don’t produce music I’ve tried to help where I can in other ways, and I’ve always been itching to contribute in some way musically to Oleeva.

- Your a busy man, as we've found out when trying to get together to play records, what have you been doing these past few months? 

Yeah we’ve both been pretty busy which has made it hard to play some records together. Over the last few months (well more than a few months now) I’ve been finishing Uni and putting a lot of my spare time into a music project I co-founded with my friend James Glover called Mantissa, and Djing pretty regularly at Origins too! Mantissa is a project we started when we were both at Uni but have really put more emphasis on it since September just gone. It’s basically a project we founded with the intention of showcasing our interpretation of forward thinking music; we do this through a weekly mix series where we ask DJ’s/producers we like to create a mix for us with the emphasis on playing what you want and not feeling restricted by genres or anything, and it seems to be going pretty well and getting some traction which is great! We also have a monthly radio show on 10 Twenty Radio based in Bristol and have started running nights in London which, so far, have gone really well. Alongside this we also write some reviews of nights we go to and try to interview people we find interesting, we use our website https://mantissamix.wordpress.com/ as a hub for all this really! So yeah I guess quite a few things really haha.

- Last but not least, your dream DJ gig, if you could play alongside anyone, anywhere. Tell us.

Urm, that’s a pretty tough question as there is so many talented DJ’s out there but for me it probably would have to be Ben UFO either in Studio Spaces in London or The Island in Bristol, they’re some of my favourite venues.
