As a DJ, producer and remixer, Michael Mayer remains one of Germany's core celebrities in dance music. It's no secret that he spends his weekends traveling around the globe and back. Then, as a co-owner of Kompakt, he spends his weekdays deciding what will be released on the label and working with the label's artists. Amazingly enough, he manages to sneak into the studio on occasion to produce his own music and remix the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Foals and Rufus Wainwright. It's safe to say he loves being challenged and regardless of the pressure is never putting less than 100% of his heart and soul into everything he does.

In spring 2016 Mayer released his 3rd full-length album »&« on K7, a passionate and personal collection of tracks he produced cooperating with soulmates like Barnt, Prins Thomas, Hauschka, Joe Goddard, Miss Kittin, Kölsch or Roman Flügel.

Shortly after he was set to contribute to the legendary DJ Kicks series, again for K7.

Since March 2018 he is hosting his very own radio show on WDR Cosmo.

In April 2020 Michael released his first solo 12inch in ages called Higher.

@ultralowvelocity is a new project formed by French DJs and producers @antoinnnnnnnne and @a_strange_wedding. Revelling in slow-burning and intensely psychedelic rhythms and atmospheres, the duo’s distinctive, shamanistic sound evokes the sensation of time being warped, whilst embracing sudden changes of sounds and feelings, from dynamic to vapourous. 

As individual artists, the two have made their impact on both the French and European stage thanks to creative output on labels such as @worst_rec and @krakzh, as well as their involvement in Saint Etienne’s @positiveeducationfest.
Kicking off their Ultra Low Velocity project in early 2021 with an EP release on Krakzh, the duo have since had a busy post-lockdown period, taking the stage at festivals and parties across France, including at the Visions and Atom Festivals, a Krakzh label night in Rennes, and soon, the upcoming fifth edition of the Positive Education Festival.

For Patterns of Perception 87, Ultra Low Velocity have shared a snapshot of their arresting current hybrid set. Although each of their performances is unique, this recording is a perfect summation of the carefully sculpted, uniquely energetic and kaleidoscopic nature of their sound. Building from a trippy, experimental-leaning start, this set moves confidently through genres, moods and time signatures, reaching its crescendo with free-wheeling, euphoric abandon.

UK techno legend Alan Fitzpatrick gears up for the release of his first album in over a decade, 'Machine Therapy’, out November 12 on Anjunadeep.

Earlier this year, We Are The Brave label boss Alan Fitzpatrick debuted on leading dance imprint Anjunadeep with 'Warning Signs’. An emotive collaboration with Lawrence Hart, the track saw Fitzpatrick deviate from his typical techno sound, drawing influence from electronica, breakbeat, and dub. Championed by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong and Danny Howard, and remixed by CamelPhat, the track was the first piece of music from Alan’s forthcoming LP. 

Followed by album singles ‘W.A.I.S.T.D.’ with Bloc Party frontman Kele, and ‘Bourgeois Imagery’ with drum & bass legend High Contrast, the fourth single to drop from the new album is ‘A Call Out for Love’ feat. LOWES. A brooding melodic house track, ‘A Call Out For Love’ weaves a sweeping arpeggiator with the soaring vocals of the Manchester band’s lead vocalist, Evie Plumb. “Evie’s voice sits perfectly with the sound, and it really has made this track into something very special” says Alan. LOWES come off the back of a string of high profile collaborations with some of dance music’s biggest names, including Sub Focus and Franky Wah, which have made it onto BBC Radio 1’s A-List. Their sound walks the line between underground electronic music and emotional pop.

‘Machine Therapy’ sees Alan piece together fragments of techno, breaks, house and ambient to create a glorious window into the inner workings of one of electronic music’s most exciting, established talents. And this collaboration is no exception.

Tune into the heart of Mexico City, with the second episode of @iriyrecords show, featuring one of the most established and oldest post-club labels, @naafi

The label aims to overcome the self-doubt present in the local Mexican electronic music scene and revive the local musical aesthetic. Consequently, N.A.A.F.I. releases music inspired by local electronic music trends like dembow and reggaeton while recontextualizing Western styles such as techno and house. These sounds are fused to create a blend of deconstructed and often ironic music. This blend is termed “tribal,” contrasting with the music of malinchismo (the local name for structured Western genres). It combines percussive, conceptual, and polyrhythmic sounds to create a unique musical narrative.

The next podcast in our series comes from MKO, a DJ and promoter, who has been active on the Warsaw scene for several years now. 

Maciej co-founded "Dype" that have brought artists to the Polish capital such as Levon Vincent, Objekt, Efdemin, Vril, and Konstantin Sibold. They have partnered with Dimensions and played all across Poland as well as other cult venues such as Climax Institutes (Stuttgart), Chalet and Ritter Butzke (Berlin). 

Maciej tries not to limit his sets to one genre, oscillating somewhere between house and techno, deep, dub, Detroit and acid. The mix is a vinyl only offering recorded earlier this summer.

OLave Lefevre is inspired by hypnotic progressive trance & house music, which he then merged with new era electronic melodies with his unique perspective of notion cultures. This combination is translated into his sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of these elements.
 Like his mixes, the production also delivers a mature, exciting and accomplished apotheosis sound. Interlacing somewhere between House, Minimal Techno, Deep, Tech-house & Electronica, it’s hard to name OLave in any one specific genre, except one of marked ‘Melodically’!
