Music was there long before he could speak. He spent his childhood immersed in music, trumpet in hand, as his father’s tunes played constantly at home. A setting that allowed him to develop an intimate connection with music from a very young age. But everything truly shifted in 2017, when he discovered techno at Fuse, the legendary club where, for the first time, he fully experienced the liberating energy of the dancefloor. That night marked a pivotal turning point: he now knew exactly which music expressed his deepest identity.

After his initial experiments exploring rap and electronic music, it was ultimately during the 2020 lockdown that he decided to take music seriously. In November of that year, he won a contest hosted by Stella Bossi’s new label, The Beat Must Fuck. Success struck immediately upon the release of his first track, followed by an explosive collaboration with Stella herself, now amassing over 14 million streams on Spotify.

Fueled by this early success, he took to the decks as a DJ in 2021, quickly performing venues across Brussels and beyond, including Fuse, La Fabriek, Barrio, and KulturA to name a few.
Yet, after a period of creative uncertainty and doubt, he reshaped his artistic vision, embracing a deeper and more hypnotic sound that enabled him to connect more authentically and profoundly with himself and his audience.

His influences are diverse and rich. Rock’s raw energy, hip-hop’s rhythmic flow, and jazz’s playful improvisation have all shaped his approach to music. Whether he's DJing or producing, he blends deep, hypnotic vibes with groovy rhythms, sometimes diving into tougher, industrial sounds. It's this eclectic mix that lets him create an immersive experience, giving his audience a moment of pure escape.

Naturally easy-going, he approaches music with honesty and simplicity, avoiding unnecessary pretension or overthinking. As comfortable in the kitchen as behind the decks, you’ll often find him mixing tracks in his kimono, sipping coffee, and sporting his trademark black bucket hat.

On the horizon, an electrifying collaboration with Hillusion will soon be released on Light Modulator Records, delivering a powerful blend of driving grooves and ghetto inspired rythms. Simultaneously, his debut EP on ALU Records is about to captivate listeners with a subtle fusion of deep polymetric melodies and powerful beats, clearly setting the stage for his bold and bright future in the techno scene.

Ethereal melodies. Slow-shifting synthscapes. Analog bass meandering through fluctuating atmospheres. Attempting to describe the diverse output of Auk, a band of bird-named Berlin transplants, is no easy feat.

Auk finds its origins in Vancouver, where Landon Sarver and Nathaniel Suter met in a digital music class at the city’s Art Institute. Between guitar jams and techno nights at the now defunct Lotus Sound Lounge, the duo quickly bonded over their shared rural roots and rapidly evolving appreciation for electronic music.

“We started hanging out because we’re both from the middle of nowhere in British Columbia,” says Landon. “We had one bar full of cowboys. There were rodeos.”

After entering dance music production through the prism of preliminary projects, the duo relocated to Berlin in 2013. The move would prove formative both in terms of focus and influence. In the old Eastern bloc borough of Kreuzberg, the musical outfit that would become Auk began to take form.

Auk is in some ways a union of opposing strengths. Landon’s orderly melodic approach mirrors his classical pianist upbringing, while Nathaniel’s natural ear for atmospherics and sampled sound design reflects more chaotic musical convictions. From this delicate balance, their sound was born. Fusing minimal and melodic elements of techno and house in eclectic arrangements, Auk’s music excels in defying both classification and studio convention.

“We both approach our music from different angles and find a meeting place in the middle,” says Nathaniel. “We are not always going to sound the same.”

After being introduced through fellow ex-pat Canadian Hrdvsion, Noah Pred soon signed the duo to his respected Thoughtless Music imprint. Their debut EP found it's way into famous clubs such as Berlin's Watergate and Ibiza's Space which was lovingly played by Richie Hawtin himself. 

With their successful debut EP, Absolution, out on Thoughtless and a number of remix releases in the works, Auk’s time is now nearly at hand.
