New album Year of the Black Water Rabbit arrives 05/05/23

Lyla Foy is a British artist who performs intimate, melodic pop music. Beginning with scratchy kitchen recordings, her first EP, Shoestring (released under alias WALL), came out in 2013 and sprung Lyla into the underground mainstream. 

 
Hot off the heals of Shoestring, after reverting back to her name, the first full length album, Mirrors the Sky (Sub Pop) arrived in March 2014. The sound was a continuation from her WALL material. Still unpolished but with a sureness and a resolve to stand firmly in her genre. Lyla toured the world supporting this release, sharing stages with bands including The National, Sharon Van Etten, Midlake and Fleet Foxes. It was mentally exhausting, and while the process and industry caused a lot of grief, it lead to some of her most beautiful work - UMi, a long EP which was released in October 2015. Not wanting to print more than a limited edition run to test the water - all physical copies sold out on the first day.

Retreating once more to form a new band, consisting mainly of women, to help realise a new vocal-heavy sound, Lyla emerged again, having finished an album written with then partner, Oli Deakin (Lowpines) and produced by Patrick Wimberly (Chairlift). This was Bigger Brighter (ingrooves) which arrived in September 2018.  A charmingly messy collage of colour, emotions, places and people. It purposefully represented transition and although tongue-in-cheek,  you could sense the seas were unsettled.

In March 2020, as world was shutting down, Lyla was putting the finishing touches on her third full length album in Bristol with Ali Chant and long-time band members and virtual family Andy Goodall and Hazel Tratt. Having been determined not to add anymore people to the process, almost everything (bar drums and backing vocals) was performed by herself. While satisfying, it was insular, much like 2020 in its entirety. The months that followed did so in a daze. A new studio was created in a converted shepherds hut and a new home was made, out of the city. Videos were dreamed up and artwork emerged organically, with the help of her muse John H. Lyla finally had enough time to see things clearly without all the noise that normally created havoc in her mind. This album would be released without pretence, without mass promotion and every attention would be focused on the details of the release and the way it would make people feel when they heard it.

Tom Robinson (b.1950) is a songwriter and broadcaster who's released 14 studio albums and won two Sony awards for his radio work. He champions new independent artists on his podcast The BBC Introducing Mixtape on 6 Music and sponsors the music blog Fresh On The Net. He's also co-written songs with Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Dan Hartman over the years. The original Tom Robinson Band first became known in the 1970s as supporters of Rock Against Racism and LGBT rights, following their breakthrough hit  ‘2-4-6-8 Motorway’

We are a band made up of very eclectic music fans. Liz for example, listens to Melody Gardot and Stacey Kent, and Muse, a lot. Mr Gemini usually jams in his earphones on his bass to Alanis Morissette's records from the 90s. Rahza the guitarist actually really likes to pretend he's Pharrell Williams on drums. Avex just sings anything - currently while we're writing this, he's humming the melody from Jay-Z's 'Holy Grail'. Azy, while not playing keyboards with us, composes for film and is currently writing with conductor Tadaaki Otaka of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Yes, we think he's a freak too.

Melbourne is where we all grew up in and the idea of the band formed in 2008 after Avex moved back from a short 'Sydney' phase and decided that Melbourne brings out better "emo" thoughts therefore better music (LOL). We love our single-origin coffees and we love Avex for ocassionally taking us to nice fancy restaurants because he manages one himself at night. Beers from all regions in hidden outdoor pubs all around Melbourne is where our music come from - and technically we can't use our music as legal documents because most the time they're written while we're under the influence.

Everyone in the band plays and write with various other bands but Avex & The Shadowboxes as a unit perform only at secret gigs around Melbourne to invite-only crowds of 20-30 close friends and acquaintances a few times a year. We love our friends, we like to entertain and this is how we like to thank them for their support for our art. The after-gig (drunken) sexual innuendo-laced conversations we have with our fans usually turn into guitar riff and lyrics ideas the next afternoon. We thank you for your beautiful minds.

The word "Sleeptwice" comes from when he was kid , he slept two times a day. One in the morning and another one in afternoon after ovaltine time.(this is always happen in every kindergarten in Thailand :))
SLEEPTWICE try to bring you back to your childhood(if you are 70s-90s man). The time that you met your first love. The time that permanently in your head. For me, Nintendo Gameboy is the point. I stole my mom's money (about 2000 baht) buying my first gameboy and 'The Flash' cartridge. SLEEPTWICE, The guilty boy begins making his music when he think about that.
With the sound of Gameboy/Atari2600, You can feel the retro sound and catchy melody. With Disco/Synthpop/Electro influence Sleeptwice adding synth pad,dirty bass into his song
