oftentimes i see people commenting on songs saying they are like weirdly nostalgic / remind them of something they've never seen/heard/known before but with which they are deeply acquainted. i've never really understood that, not until listening to this piece at least. oliver's less-conventionally-electronic stuff tends to invoke that strange comforting feeling in me, especially this particular one. it sounds so hopeful and like discovering new beautiful aspects of the world under hazy sunlight that paints everything less-saturated and dreamy in colour. may throw together a ramble about this one later, idk. quite possibly my favourite song ever though, don't let my possibly-temporary lack of ramble obfuscate that fact

This album was specially composed for a french short film titled Lettre de Noblesse, directed by Dany Gomez and featuring Ryan Highley. Set in a medieval fantasy universe, the project draws viewers into a tragic story where themes of betrayal and honor are deeply entwined.

It was an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience to work on. The tracks presented here are extended versions.

Deep Space - A Space Opera

Recorded at the SAM Summer School 2015, a five-day composition course in the Purcell School. On the first day, our group was given some advice on how to start a new piece. One of these pieces of advice was as follows:

"Don't be afraid to change time signatures or explore various keys. All too often, we get stuck in one time and don't move away from one or two chords."

Taking this to heart, this piece changes keys 48 times and has 33 shifts in time signature. The starting and ending melodies on the cello are made from the tonics of the chord sequence that follows.
