The Tabula Smaragdina (stressed tábula smarágdina, Latin for "emerald tablet") is a text traditionally attributed to Hermes Trismegistos, which forms the philosophical basis of Hermeticism and is considered the foundational text of alchemy.

The Tabula is one of the most famous texts of alchemical and hermetic literature. The twelve or so dark, allegorical sentences reflect the idea of a interrelation between the microcosm and the macrocosm. That which is below is like that which is above, and that which is above is like that which is below, an eternal miracle of the One.

The oldest extant version of the text is found in the appendix to a 6th century Arabic manuscript. Translated into Latin in the 12th century, the Tabula was commented on and received by many alchemists in the Middle Ages and increasingly in the Renaissance period. Even after the emergence of modern natural sciences, its fascination, at least for occultists and esotericists, remained unbroken until the present day.

Die Tabula ist einer der berühmtesten Texte alchemistischer und hermetischer Literatur. In den rund zwölf dunklen, allegorischen Sätzen spiegelt sich die Vorstellung eines Zusammenhangs von Mikrokosmos und Makrokosmos. Das was unten ist, ist wie das, was oben ist, und das was oben ist, ist wie das was unten ist, ein ewig dauerndes Wunder des Einen.

Die älteste erhaltene Textversion findet sich im Anhang zu einem arabischen Manuskript des 6. Jahrhunderts. Im 12. Jahrhundert ins Lateinische übersetzt, wurde die Tabula im Mittelalter und verstärkt im Zeitalter der Renaissance von vielen Alchemisten kommentiert und rezipiert. Auch nach Entstehung der modernen Naturwissenschaften blieb ihre Faszination zumindest auf Okkultisten und Esoteriker bis in die Gegenwart ungebrochen.

Latin, literally ‘not having control of one's mind’.

If there was ever a time in my life when I questioned the sanity of the world, this would be it. So many things are not working; and so many people in power seem to want to keep it that way. How does one maintain hope (and provide others hopeful ideas), when the daily news tells such a different story? At what point do the hopeful messages just feel out of touch, rather than helpful?

Bo Burnham’s comedy special ‘Inside’ (on Netflix, but you can find several skits on YouTube as well) should be recommended viewing for all human beings right now. It’s a brilliantly insightful and snarky view of the world we live in, and a candid peek into his struggles facing that world. Half charming, half alarming… he is unapologetic and razor sharp in how he interprets the modern age. Here’s a line from one of the opening songs that really hit home for me:

"The more I look, the more I see nothing to joke about. Is comedy over? Should I leave you alone? Cause really who's gonna go for joking at a time like this? Should I be joking at a time like this? I wanna help to leave this world better than I found it. And I fear that comedy won't help, and the fear is not unfounded."

This so accurately summarizes how I feel right now. Is what I’m doing helping? Or does (you pick the hot topic driving you nuts at the moment) seem so out of control, that I seem out of touch with reality… trumpeting loving and hopeful messages in the face of the chaos? 

In the end, I feel there are only two paths available to us at any given time; activity and inactivity. I don’t know that the specific activity matters as much as the drive and purpose behind that activity. I suspect the point is simply to do anything positive that tells the universe where your heart and intent are focused. The alternative… inactivity probably looks a lot like freezing in your tracks, getting lost in fear (or anger, which I consider a sub-category of fear)… and refusing to (or feeling like you can’t) move forward. It’s pretty easy to imagine how that energy won’t be helping anyone… especially you.

So maybe it’s as simple as just doing something that seems meaningful to you. Maybe that means protesting. Or donating to causes that align with your values. It might be conserving water, limiting waste, and recycling. Perhaps it’s providing your services and skills to someone in need; or simply smiling at someone as you pass them on the street. And it can also take the form of artistic and creative expression; a valuable offering for people in need of evocative images, sounds and ideas. All of these things hold power. And all are important in my mind. So rather than questioning whether we’re doing the right things, or enough of the right things… maybe we just need to follow our hearts (not our minds), and see where that leads us. Our hearts already seem to know us better than we know ourselves anyway. Let’s try trusting that little fellow, and see where it takes us.

7 Days To Utopia was written on the piano with a future dystopian narrative in mind. Such a world instils in each of us the desire to be the hero/heroine of our destiny but also vulnerable and compassionate with the need to be saved - fragile threads of the human condition which we hope will persist through the ages to come. 

There is a certain saudade which haunts - a need to be loved without the pain of such commitment. The question remains as to whether humanity will rise above this existential crisis or whether an inferior appetite for hedonism will prevail. 

Although the scenario may be fictional, I think it retains and serves to amplify the pivotal qualities of humanity as we know it today. 

I hope you enjoy this musical interpretation composed on the piano with strings and percussion, aimed at capturing the "live" atmosphere of an auditorium (or perhaps an old ruin damaged in the battles that preceded such event....)

FEW AND FAR BETWEEN

Welcome to our new song and first co-composition from me and John Styles, this is a pre-release we wanted to share with you, we will continue and make a real orchestral movement for it too.
We all know, that is our heart can be heavy with grief and sorrow.
Certain events in our life’s happens unexpectedly, which can simply throw one right out of the path of Life.
We also can relate to that, and with this piece we tried to express those feelings going over into a peaceful mood that may give freedom to our soul.
It’s our intention that the music opens your hearts and brings peace back again, and hope that this piece may bring you comfort, and eventually you can feel the freedom too, so that life becomes little easier!
Oliver experienced the same lately, ever since he started working together with John, his confidence and love for making music is growing each day, and the peace and joy in his heart makes it possible to compose and make beautiful music again, John teaches me so much and that gives me the strength to continue.
Now we wanted to compose a song together, and we did it just by talking over the phone or Skype, and sending tracks back and forth until we end up with something we both like very much.
Now I have fun making music again, and I am sure you all will be able to hear the freedom and joy I experience by playing piano again too.

Willkommen in unserem neuen Song und erste Co-Komposition von mir und John Styles, dies ist ein Pre-Release wir mit Ihnen teilen wollte, und werden wir einen echten Orchester Satz für sie auch weiterhin machen.
Wir alle wissen, dass  unser Herz mit Kummer und Sorgen schwer sein kann.
Bestimmte Ereignisse in unserem Leben geschehen unerwartet, die uns aus der Bahn  des Lebens wirft.
Wir können auch auf das beziehen und mit diesem Stück haben wir versucht, diese Gefühle  in eine friedliche Stimmung zum Ausdruck zu bringen, die Freiheit unserer Seele geben kann.
Es ist unsere Absicht, dass die Musik euer Herz öffnet und bringt den Frieden wieder zurück.  Wir  hoffen, dass dieser Song Sie entspannt  und schließlich können Sie die Freiheit zu spüren, so dass das Leben wird etwas einfacher wird!
Oliver erlebt das gleiche in letzter Zeit, seit er mit John zusammen arbeitet, sein Vertrauen und Liebe Musik zu machen jeden Tag wächst, und der Friede und Freude in seinem Herzen ist es möglich, wieder schöne Musik zu komponieren und zu machen, lehrt John mir soviel, und das gibt mir die Kraft weiter zu machen.
Nun wollten wir ein Lied zusammen zu komponieren, und wir haben es nur durch über das Telefon oder Skype zu sprechen, und das Senden Spuren hin und her, bis wir am Ende  etwas haben was uns  beide sehr gut gefällt.
Jetzt habe ich Spaß wieder Musik zu machen und ich bin sicher, dass Sie alle in der Lage sein werden , die Freiheit und die Freude zu spüren. Die ich durch das Klavier Spielen wieder habe, ich hoffe Ihr könnt es  erleben und  hören.

Ich bin Oliver Papke
 Ich hatte schon immer ein großes Interesse an der Musik . Wir hatten im Elternhaus ein Klavier stehen. Oft sah ich meiner Mutter zu und war sehr begeistert von dem was ich hörte. So hat es garnicht lange gedauert bis ich mich ans Klavier setzte, mit 11 Jahren, und anfing zu spielen. Das erste Lied was ich spielte war von Beethoven "Für Elise". Der Wunsch wurde immer größer noch mehr zu machen nachdem viele Freunde und enge Bekannte mich ermunterten doch auch mal was Online zu präsentieren. Da ich gerne Musik aus dem 80gern mag fing ich an Songs von verschiedenen bekannten Musikern und Bands zu covern. Es machte wirklich großen Spaß. Auch bei Facebook wurde es hochgeladen und mit großer Begeisterung von vielen gut aufgenommen. Immer mehr entwickelte sich der Weg der Musik und meine Frau saß am Klavier genießt es wenn ich spiele und merkte das ich Anfing von Cover Songs abzuweichen. Nach einer längeren musikalischen Pause fing ich dann im Jahre 2014 eigenes auf dem Klavier spielen. So habe ich dies auch veröffentlicht und auch dies kam gut bei den Hörern an. Ich habe bis heute viele Freunde im Internet kennengelernt und habe die voll und ganz hinter mir stehen . Viele gute Musiker lernte ich kennen. Man traf sich man Musizierte bei uns zu Hause und so ging es weiter. Dann kam es dazu das ich es irgendwie aufnehmen sollte und so habe ich mir ein Stage Piano gekauft, das KAWAI MP7. Damit ging die Musikalische Reise weiter. Ich suchte immer neue Wege um weitere Songs zu komponieren als Klavier Melodie. Diese habe ich dann hochgeladen bei Youtube und Soundcloud. Ich lernte immer mehr Musiker kennen mit denen ich dann auch zusammen gearbeitet habe was mir sehr viel Erfahrungen eingebracht hat. Darüber bin ich sehr dankbar. Nach und nach hörte ich beim Komponieren Orchester in meinen Ohren und verspürte den Herzenswunsch auch Orchester zu ler-nen und zu meinen Klavier spiel hinzuzufügen. Ich kaufte mir ein Musik Programm und hatte nun die Möglichkeit auch dieses zu verwirklichen. Nach vielen Projekten mit tollen Musikern lernte ich Colin Powell kennen und wir fingen an gemeinsam zu arbeiten . Es fing mit einer Zusammenarbeit an und es hat so gut geklappt so das wir unser erstes eigenes Album "Moments In Time“ fertig hat-ten. Weiter ging es mit 2 neuen Singles welche man bei allen gängigen Download Portalen herun-terladen kann. Bei Bandcamp und zum streamen auf Spotify. Eine Musik zum Augen schließen und Träumen / Backround / New Age / Ballade/ Relaxe / Classic / Flöten Musik. Mit viel Herzblut und Großer Leidenschaft ist so ein Herzens Wunsch in Erfüllung geganngen. Ich habe noch vieles vor auch in die Tat umzusetzen. Die Musik geht immer weiter. Komponieren und Neue Songs zu Kreie-ren das macht sehr viel Spaß. Ich bin Autodidakt und alle Songs die ich Komponiere hole ich aus schönen Momenten meines tiefsten Herzens,  meinem Inneren der Natur meiner Lieben Frau die mich in allen mit der Musik unterstützt. Ich Konzentriere mich in meiner Freizeit musikalisch, spiele viel am Klavier und da entstehen oft neue Ideen welche ich dann arrangiere zu fertigen Songs und dann am Kawai Mp7 aufnehme.
