The question asked was-If Om Swami could shed some light on what he had said in a blog post where he mentioned that the law of attraction and the law of karma go hand in hand and people doing good can face adversities and sometimes people doing bad things can have good things happening to them in life.

Om Swami says that it is difficult to say things like this person is good or that person is bad as it’s always from an individual’s perspective on what they feel is good or bad, right or wrong. It is difficult to say if something is really wrong and therefore, it’s a futile exercise to classify people in this way. He says, most people can be so blinded by their ego that they cannot see their own mistakes and wrongdoings.
Om Swami says that for the law of attraction to work, one should concentrate on only one thing at a time. It will work for a person who is ready in all other aspects by being prepared. If a person just dreams about something without putting any effort then there will be no manifestation. When a person with a complete one-pointed focus determinedly works day and night towards their dream without accepting defeat, then the universe at some point materializes it in their world.

Link Between Law of Attraction and Karma - [Hindi]

The question asked here was - How can a householder balance between worship, his householder’s duties and happiness, all together?

Om Swami says that if a person irrespective of whether he/she is a householder, celibate or a renunciate, understands to do his/her duty like a sadhana (disciplined surrender) then they will not be unhappy. He says that there are three reasons as to why a person feels sad and disgruntled. One is that they have something or someone in their lives that they don’t want. Or, they don’t have something that they really desire. And lastly, they may feel that certain people do not qualify for good things in their life but actually have them. Om Swami says that if someone feels that others in the world are happier and better off than them, then that is sheer ignorance and an illusion. If a person learns to live his/her life with compassion towards oneself and learns to treat all work as one’s pious duty then all work will be like a sadhana. He says that a householder’s work is a sadhana which is in many ways higher than that of a renunciate. Attainment and liberation for a householder is easier compared to that of a renunciate.

In this discourse, Om Swami talks about if excessive exercise is good for one. Om Swami says it doesn't take a lot for a person to become a fanatic in anything. When we exercise, there is a release of neurotransmitters involved, when we maintain those exercise levels those chemicals start to feel less. This makes a person goes on to do more and more. Anything done in moderation is good, even if it's endurance training it has to built up gradually. It's very important to exercise. If you are not in a fit body, you are doing yourself a great injustice. It is not only a privilege but also one's responsibility to maintain their physical fitness.

Is Excessive Exercise Good For You  - Om Swami [English]

In this discourse, Om Swami talks about the time when Lord Ram is back in Ayodhya after winning the war in Lanka and handing the kingdom's reigns (Lanka)to Vibheeshan. Lakshman, having been in the constant company of his brother lord Ram through thick and thin, was nagged by the thought that lord Ram considered both Bharat and Hanuman as saintly and had mentioned it often but had never mentioned it to him(Lakshman) in those terms. To get an answer to this, Lakshman places his doubt in front of lord Ram. Lord Ram responds by saying that it's easy for people to relinquish things when one does not have anything, but to relinquish when one has everything is very difficult and could not have been done by anyone except Bharat. According to Lord Ram, any other person other than Bharat would surely have ruled the land and enjoyed the power that came with it for fourteen years. Om Swami says that the intoxication of power is such that anyone who gets it cannot let go of it.

As a continuation of the last discourse, Lakshmana asks Lord Ram, to explain the difference between a realized soul/saint vs. a normal person. He asks Lord Ram, does a person become a saint just by taking the name of God, similar to how Vibshana had. Lord Ram says the difference is that a saintly person does not sacrifice his good gunas/values come what may. But, an ordinary person succumbs to base qualities giving up their good qualities the minute something affects them adversely. The easiest way to become saintly is to give up anger.

The question is what is the easiest way to attain peace? The foremost easiest way to be at peace is to stop listening to your mind. When you don’t listen to your mind, it is quiet and at peace. The mind makes a noise when it is being heard. If you want to understand mind, you have to think of a small child. When a child is making a noise, the parents may be doing their work, they may be watching TV or even fighting with each other and it will still be okay if the child is making the noise. However, as soon as they direct their attention towards the child, he will start doing things that the child was not doing before. The child’s accomplished his aim. He wanted the parents to give attention and time to him and that’s what the parents did. 

Similarly, when the mind talks and if you listen to it, the mind will start saying it louder. This is mind’s primary aspect. If someone said something to you that you did not like, it will start saying all negative things about that person.
