Based in the beautiful city of Riga, Latvia, East Cho lands for the third time on mighty Nein Records. After his well-received debut release “Leather & Lasers”, a solid 4-track EP divided into three originals and one remix by Steady State, and a collaboration on Legoheads’ “Necropolis”, his brand-new and interesting work, “Wet Asphalt” EP, also delivers four tracks, but this time divided into two originals and two remixes by From Beyond and Eyjafjöll (SXDNS214).

Musically inspired by the Dark Side of Disco, Cho’s sonority encompasses shards of many a genre, such as EBM, Industrial, Post-Punk, New Wave, and Cold Wave. The outcome of his productions is an insightful concoction of soundscapes whose retro-infused-but-modern aura will make you wish to dance surrounded by bats in a filthy cave.

Premiered here, the magnificent version skilled British artist Alex Wastnidge aka From Beyond made of the title track. In his 112-BPM interpretation, Alex managed to embed an early rave atmosphere even at such low speed, providing a vibrant and frenzied albeit slo-mo theme devoted to triggering good & old school feelings only.

PREMIERE255 // East Cho - Wet Asphalt (From Beyond Remix)

Vilnius/Basel-based DJ and producer Domas Bojarciukas aka Bojarchük is back to Mexican imprint Bonkers Records. After being featured on the volume 1 of the compilation “Oddness”, now the Lithuanian artist returns to present a full showcase of his capabilities through the four robust cuts of his “Ugne” EP. To complete the party, two compelling remixes made with love by John Patter and Aurum Miles. Premiered here, the former’s ace contribution to the release.

John Patter needs no introduction amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco community. The originals & collaborations of the also rising Lithuanian producer can be found on some of the most interesting labels of the scene like, for instance, Ninefont, Shara Music, Rotten City Files, Melómana, and now Bonkers.

His interpretation of the opening title may have kept the noisy and fussy atmosphere of the original, but ripped off its Middle East-ish aura, replacing it with a more EBM/Industrial mood. The absurdly fat bassline – introduced at the very beginning of the track –, the weird percussive elements, and the arpeggiated synth layers show the credentials of JP’s work.

“Ugne”, which means "fire" in Lithuanian, is a more than suitable name for Bojarchük’s latest endeavour. Kudos!

Chess is the thinking mans game. A game for the chronic overthinker, whether you start with the Sicilian defence or the Queens gambit, this is a game for Karpov... not Kasprov. 
Karakter have been on fine form this year and this is a gorgeous addition with a slightly off kilter and pretty wonky breakbeat track which straddles the line between new age and heater. 
Alex Pletnev has been a staple of Vilnius scene and his remix is an absolute testament to both chess and his skills as a remixer. 
Some lovely noises punctuate this track as it slowly builds with no fanfare but total intensity, listen without prejudice please because this is awesome.

To the task we have asked a couple of family members to contribute tracks as well as uncovered some secret ver- sions we've been playing out for quite some time now and felt it is the right time to release them. As you can guess from the tracklist, the compilation is diverse in styles and goes from drones slow trance to diy Post Punk to ambient.
