Together with his mate Sebastien Vorhaus, he is one of Mexico’s top producers and has a quality output on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Music and last but not least Quintessentials. Living in Berlin this summer, 4004 will get lots of inspiration and will have a busy musical journey. And hopefully some sleep! For now, his new “Body Night Lies” is another dope release for your house collection - damn deep and moody!

To kick off the dawn of a new decade and their first release of 2020 in fine style, Phuture Shock Musik very proudly present ‘La Búsqueda’ - the debut album from Barcelona-based producer and multi-skilled musician Damián Botigué aka Karmasound.

Having released his first 12” ‘Probabalidades’ EP on the Bristol imprint to wide acclaim in 2018, followed by a solid sophomore effort ‘Can See Thru You’ one year later; whilst also contributing to recent projects by label mate Cyclonix and Wolf Music signee Pedro, Karmasound has steadily gained momentum to graduate to the long player format.

Comprised of ten tracks steeped in existential themes, ‘La Búsqueda’ stands out as the producer’s most personal and accomplished work to date, where jazz - particularly of the 70’s Latin fusion/funk variety – is a key source of its inspiration in terms of sound, yet with a contemporary electronic-infused spin and loosely within a broken beat context.
Besides taking cues from the above styles, each composition is informed by Botigué’s soulful, interstellar sound that combines live instrumentation with analogue studio gadgetry and a vast range of influences; including hip hop, soul, Afro-Latin, electronica and the forward-thinking sensibilities of the early 00’s West London sound. This rich musical diversity running throughout the LP, strikes a fitting balance between the past and the future that aligns with Phuture Shock’s sonic vision.

Bixi’s sophomore EP on Canadian imprint Breathing Room Records is upon us. Simply entitled Natural, the release is a further exploration into the Switzerland-based artist’s love of organic sounds and textures. Following up on his debut Aquarius EP released last year, this time Bixi, who also goes by his more jazzy main alias Lokke, decided to forego the sampling and played most of the instruments himself with a little help from his friends. This includes keys, guitars, bass, synths, kalimbas and all sorts of other percussion. The four track EP is also the first in a set of upcoming digital-only releases for Breathing Room.

The title track, Natural, is led by a tranquil kalimba melody while being underpinned by a driving moog bass. A percussive break in the middle of the track serves as a reminder that the track is still meant for the dancefloor, BPM not withstanding. Flip has a sharp kick and hefty moog bassline reminiscent of last year’s Cosmic Water, while the melodies are once again contrasting that heaviness with a light-hearted flair. The third track, Phanta, is a percussive affair with rhythm guitars aplenty, perhaps being the most footwork friendly of the bunch. The closing track Moka, and our premiere today, takes on a breezy atmosphere with sunny pads and playful melodies, transporting you straight to the beach.

One of our platform's favourite producers, the Finnish sensation Saine, is back to grace our ears with some new original music. It feels as if we haven't heard from him in a while. Maybe it's because the year 2020 has been so chaotic. He has done a number of remixes over the past year (one that's just about to be released as well) and let's not forget his beat tape released in May of last year. Regardless, we're happy to get our ears on some of this new material and happier still to bring it to you today.
The Cherish EP is self-released by the producer. One of his greatest loves is sampling and it's clear that he's got a knack for chopping up parts of obscure records and reinventing them into something completely new. He doesn't simply use these samples as is but takes his time, cuts them up, rearranges and finds other samples that go with them to create a truly new and unique piece. Despite all that, simplicity is still the key to his success and even with the level of detail put in, the final product's appeal is the effortless marriage of said elements into a glossy new composition.

The release is a tribute to the class 90's hip-hop sound with it's big rumbling kicks, dusty horn and piano samples and rumbling bass. Crooks and Lowdown are definitely the heftier tracks on the EP, the likes of which we haven't seen from Saine in a couple of years at least. Our premiere track Cherish is just a bit lighter with its mellower, trippy horns, jovial melodies and easy-going percussion. This friends, is vintage Saine. The final track on the EP, Finesse, is perfectly titled and would have found a good home on his beat tape last year (those strings though wow!).

Fear not wax collectors as this is not it for Saine this year, he's got something else coming out soon. Needless to say, we all know what 2020 has been like for musicians. On today’s episode of LA’s Most-Blunted, the POOLS boys are back with a brand new sample-laden selection of beats and blends!

Picking up where their previous RNT outing ‘Innertubes’ left off, Thee Mike B and DJ Morse Code crafted the 12 tracks of Sunned by layering found and filtered sounds over rough’n’ready MPC beats, dripping with delay and vibey ambience. From smooth head-nodding soul, to more boogiefied breaks and a healthy helping of that melancholic and dreamy approach that the duo does so well, each track boasts its own unique soundscape and structure. But taken together as a collective listen, this record has a hypnotic, zoned-out and sun-drenched quality that is...well, unmistakably POOLS.

Gustavo mm é dj e jornalista. Começou a tocar em 1999 no inicio do Galeria Café com uma pegada de House francês (french touch ) e deep House de Detroit. Antes disso foi frequentador, desde bem novo, dos clubes underground cariocas ( Kitschnet, Dr Smith, Bunker, Valdemente…) Colecionava discos que iam da emergente House Music até o Industrial europeu. Nos anos 2000 se juntou ao coletivo Rioradio (ver post fixado do Instagram) que realizava festas gratuitas em praias, bazares de vinil e uma noites fixa, a Minimal Sessions , no extinto Les Artists , que também foi palco  para o crescente Drum n Bass na cidade ( Festa FEBRE) . 
Paralelamente produzia e tocava aos Domingos na Playground com o Dj Gustavo Tatá, onde recebeu djs como 
Matias Aguayo e promoveu a primeira vinda de Eric Duncan ao Rio numa noite memorável , e que iniciou a absorção do Space Disco e House psicodélico na cena. Um ano depois pegou a residência do Dama Ferro às sextas onde tocou como djs como Honey Dijon (!!!). A esta altura Gustavo tinha o Chicago House como principal foco mas sem abrir mão de sua bagagem das influências de San Francisco, NY e Detroit. Em 2007 idealizou e co-produziu a festa Combo, que teve um crescimento vertiginoso misturando uma atitude pos-punk com nu disco , indie dance, house , techno e industrial / coldwave/ electro. Djs como The Glimmers , artistas da DFA ( Lcd Soundsystem) e vários nomes das pistas underground tocaram na noite. Ao final de 2008 a V Magazine apontou a Combo como uma das noites mais legais do mundo. Em 2009 a festa optou por parar enquanto estava no auge mas a equipe de produção ainda emplacou a idealização da festa sucessora , a Moist , voltada ao maximal frances/ electro e disco com djs como Gorky ( Bonde do Role) entre os convidados. Vários nomes que se tornaram importantes djs no Brasil frequentavam ambas as festas ( como Millos Kaiser e Antonio Simas do Diabo Loiro) . O proximo projeto, em 2010,  foi a Clap! , que tinha co-curadoria de Chico Dub, do festival Novas Frequências, cujo site da primeira edição Gustavo foi um dos editores. Além de tocar e produzir suas festas o dj trabalhou em diversas aplicações e plataformas relacionadas a música:
Trilhas para a Gomus Music Branding, filme Paraisos Artificiais, direção musical do premio Rio Moda Hype e olimpíadas Rio 2016. Vale mencionar que desde 2013 ate 2019 foi o residente da premiada festa Jazz Ahead onde tocava funk - soul / hip hop e acid jazz. Em 2017 formou o projeto Maputo Djs com seu parceiro desde a Rio Radio, dj Dudu Dub, onde traziam influências globais dentro do House e que se apresentou com frequência, principalmente na Comuna. Com a chegada da pandemia e a pausa obrigatória, foi o tempo de aprofundar a pesquisa em vários gêneros , como Jersey Club , Footwork , Juke e Drill. Em 2021 produziu a faixa “Só Aquecendo” , uma incursão ao Chill Baile com Rave Breakbeats para o selo Megusta  e 
o projeto “O Classico Drill” com o rapper Bril e outros Mcs da Lapa, lançado no youtube via Atlantida . A parceria foi reeditada e em breve lançarão sua segunda faixa , com uma sonoridade entre Drill / Trap e Afro
