Termite Tavern is something that was abandoned that originally led to Bee Stings. It didn’t fit with anything before but after making Slow Stings, it had come full circle back down to 100-105 bpm territory.

We are proud to present our next release, Lemma2! 

As a true lemma it both stands on its own and supports the larger theorem: to explore bass heavy music across a span of tempos and time signatures. Lemma2 goes deeper into the ideas presented in Lemma1, this time drawing inspiration from DnB, Dubstep, and Footwork. The result being a collection of sprawling 160BPM polyrhythmic rollers.

Side A ventures into sound design, mangling field recordings collected on travels far and beyond into almost unrecognizable shapes. Side B takes on a more percussive tip, driving for the dance floor with some stepping d&b-not-d&b business and footwork interpretations.

Midnight Manoeuvres steps out of the shadows, scans the room and proceeds to melt minds and bodies with Pastime, a freakishly accomplished 4-tracker that sees the London-based artist carve out a new breaks inspired direction for himself.

These four walls were her sanctuary, an armour she'd built to protect her from the chaos of the outside world. By choice her days and nights were spent in isolation, it was exactly the way she liked it. She'd never cared much for other people, she preferred to live in her own imaginary world, where everything made perfect sense to her and her alone. In this bubble she felt safe and protected - there was nobody to answer to, nobody to give their unsolicited advise, she was the master of this universe.

Since their inception over a decade ago Hamburg imprint Couldn't Care More have been home to a roster of artists exploring deep, abstract electronics including the likes of A Sagittariun, Harmonious Thelonious and Stareaway. For their first outing of 2023 they welcome a new member to the family, NY producer J. Albert. The Exotic Dance Records boss and self-described "technologist" brings his distinctive take on deep, groove-laden house and techno for his config EP which is laced with airy, atmospheric pads, intricate sound design and tight drum programming.

As part of Pollination's second 'Open Culture: No Borders' volume, Yorkshire-born, London-based Kitsta delivers the track 'Tendrilla' as part of the 40-track compilation. The slow-paced but heavy weight cut takes you on a hypnotic, mind-melting realm while at the same time it caters dancefloors all over.

Open Culture: No Borders is a campaign demonstrating solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers, as an ongoing response to the UK government’s ‘Hostile Environment Policy’. The policy has involved a slew of regressive legislations, intended to create a deliberately challenging environment for migrants to settle. In the process, we are seeing cruel approaches to the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, the use of provocative language intended to create division and the adaption of laws which offer protection of human rights for all.

Proceeds go to Safe Passage International, who support unaccompanied children seeking asylum to reunite safely with their families across Europe, and campaign for more accessible, safer routes.

We first discovered Stefano aka Sabla—an artist from Torino—through his stunning release on Pensaments Sònics, the sublabel of Hivern Discs. That record instantly caught our attention. Then came his collaboration with D.K., which led us to explore more. That’s when we found out Stefano co-runs the label Gang of Ducks. It’s more than just a label—it’s a creative space with a truly distinctive vision and tastefully curated output.

Of course, like many others, we reached out to Stefano with the classic first request: would you record a podcast for us? His reply surprised us—instead of a regular mix, he proposed a Muslimgauze only set. The result was unique and powerful. It spread quickly, especially among Muslimgauze followers. 

While preparing the fourth edition of our Unreleased Territory series—our most well-received one so far—we asked Stefano to contribute a track. What he delivered went far beyond expectations. His music has a hypnotic, atmospheric quality that pulls you in and stays with you.

In 2024, we finally met in person during a collaborative event at SODAS2123, organized together with Gang of Ducks. Later, during a visit to Torino, we agreed on further collaboration for the next edition of Unreleased Territory.

Stefano aka Sabla isn’t just a talented producer—he’s a thoughtful and inspiring person with a refined, adventurous musical taste. His work with Donato Dozzy, including two joint EPs, shows his ability to move effortlessly across styles. We’re truly honored to have him as part of the Electric Shapes family. Sharing his work with our audience means a lot to us.
