The contents of this EP where made during days of insecurity, restrictions, barely any partying or dancing to loud music, news from friends dealing with day to day struggles, illness, tragic losses…I guess I could easily say we’ve fallen on black days.
Yet the coming of new life, the frequent waking during the night, the blessing of being able to swim in the sea, or walk in the woods, the off chance of having friends over for a long beach day at the Messinian bay and then hit the studio…contrast.

The good thing about being an artist is, if you have your studio and food, you don’t need much else.
Stuff we took for granted in the past and in some ways, we where failing at observing their significance, all of a sudden, become a light that washes away the darkness, at least to some extent.

Nothing is ever black or white, its just different shades of grey…grey is what adds depth by influencing shadows and contrasting darkness and light.

First track from an upcoming album inspired by Shpongle's take on a chilled and down tempo approach to Psytrance with multi-continental influences.

production notes:
This started out with a narrative I wrote for the track about a lone figure that awoke without memory in a cave that appeared to be sentient, and inhabited ravers entranced by strange relics. The usual psychedelic trope stuff. I recorded the vocals myself, and used them to inform the initial arrangement of the track. It became evident that the story would result in a evolving and winding musical expedition. However, my voice really didn't suit it. So I used elevenlabs to generate a new AI version of the vocals - that are used here. Later I stripped most of the vocals out, however the story they informed is now the song.

Each track I make offers new challenges.. here I really wanted to shift genres and sounds a lot. It sounds quite basic, but there's a lot going on here from a bassline that absolutely isn't traditional psytrance (although the base pattern is inspired by "Robotoised" by Quirk), to shifting from saw bass, to square wave, to switching the whole thing up in to a Brazil-inspired shponglised breakdown - considering I had no knowledge of this musical style, let alone how to produce it. However the real challenge was finishing this track. The arrangement has been 'complete' for months now with me tweaking and trying to polish it up enough to release it. 

I also decided to make this a multi-part song. Again, inspired by Shpongle albums where tracks eb and flow between each other. Part 2 of this isn't included here, but I hope I can make it become a full mixed album. Something for later.
