Golbon is a visual artist and a techno DJ from Tehran. Her debut EP album EKUR along with a single titled Lapse [Doomsday], came out under Low Noise Productions (CA) in July 2020. Her second EP, In the Name of Drums, will be published under Neu.Gravity record label in Feb. 2021. She also has two singles under Iranian record label Noise.A.Noise in 2019 and 2020. Golbon has been practicing as a visual artist before getting involved in the techno and experimental music scene. She is therefore, inevitably most attracted to manipulating the spaces and creating audiovisual installations.
Golbon has a doctorate of philosophy from the University of Ottawa, Canada. During her studies in Canada she showcased her art work and DJ-ed in various venues. 
Aside from performing electronic music and audiovisual sets in the past 5 years, she hosted a weekly radio show on Ottawa’s community radio CHUO.FM, Ottawa, Canada, and introduced new electronic music in DJ mixes in 2017 and 2018.

BIO:
A scientist by day and a DJ by night, Polish-born and Edinburgh-based ona:v began DJing in Edinburgh clubs in 2019. With distinctive taste for fast-paced and energetic tracks, she packs her DJ mixes with high-energy electro and techno. She is an advocate for female representation in the electronic music industry and believes the best way to increase the proportion of women in the electronic music world is platforming. Her mixes always feature tracks by amazing female producers. To further promote women DJs, she founded EPiKA with @ktk_dj. The aim of EPiKA is to promote women playing heavier flavors of electronic music through organising a series of female-led nights in Edinburgh and to create a welcoming and supportive environment for beginner female DJs.

Delighted to welcome @savlouki to my show!

Savlouki is a German/Korean musician living in Berlin. Her love for music began at the age of 5 when she started to play the piano, which still plays an important role in her compositions. Savlouki started DJing in Berlin clubs in 2018, where she played mainly ambient, techno and dark-wave. Since 2020 she focuses more on composing and producing. She is mainly inspired by neo-classical, post-rock and experimental music.

Elektraversion is a London based DJ with a particular focus on breaks, garage and electro but will play anything that's heavy, bassy and dancefloor ready. This mix is true to her usual style but pushes through the likes of techno and jungle as well in this powerful, aggressive mix.

Pustota (fictitious name) is a musician and researcher in the laboratory for the study of the phenomenon of sound waves (from the city of Chernobyl, Ukraine) that emit cosmic objects.
By decoding the waves using a self-written algorithm, he discovered an unexplained phenomenon: black matter is essentially music, the music of far space!

ona:v is a Polish-born DJ, producer and promoter with an ear for textural techno and dark electro. A scientist by day and a DJ by night, the Edinburgh-based artist is an integral figure in her locale, both as a standalone name and through event curation.

Having built an extensive track collection for several years, ona:v debuted on Edinburgh’s club circuit in 2019, with bookings across the UK making up her diary since. On home turf, ona:v plays regular gigs in Scotland’s biggest venues, having supported Ben Klock, Isabel Soto, Clouds, Paige, EKATA and many others. Outside of Scotland, she closed for Clouds and Randomer at The Cause, played at London’s Risen Festival and in Berlin’s Mensch-Meier and About Blank. 2022 saw her Polish debut, and in 2021/22 she streamed from Berlin’s HÖR Radio. More recently, for two years in a row, she headlined the basement stage curated by Sisu at Hidden Door — a prolific visual art and music festival in Edinburgh, and performed at Scotland’s biggest festival – Terminal V.

In 2020, ona:v founded EPiKA, and started promoting EPiKA’s bi-monthly party called CiRCLE in Edinburgh. Here, she creates a nurturing environment for beginner female and non-binary DJs playing more underground flavours of electronics, with focus on techno. She also garners a radio residency on London’s Threads Radio and is an internal member and a resident DJ with the Sisu crew. Production-wise, she has released tracks on multiple UK
compilations and released her debut EP, Response to the Techno Crisis, on Diffuse Reality in 2022.

First a description of the idea behind the mix from Malissa:

The deciding part of what to do with music post-production is something I am finding quite tricky as well as being an enjoyable and reflective process. Thinking about where you want your music to be, heard by who and why, what rights you have and what all of this means, mastering engineers, what tracks you really want to put out there and why, confidence, do you want to release on a label and if so what label can you relate to that you feel would be right or do you just want to self-release and what does this mean; all of these thoughts have enhanced my awareness when making music and choosing sounds. I have recently come to accept that trying to go back and finish tracks is sometimes unnecessary and to accept some productions as a captured piece of emotion that like emotion, you can’t go back in time and edit — it sounds like that because that is what it is and time has moved on as have your emotions and feelings in those moments. Also, not everything I make has to have a completed or finished feel to it. I think these realisations have settled a lot of doubts around not being able to finish music.
I found some tracks by producers who are releasing similar sounds to my own and this brought excitement and calm to my recent realisations; I thought that combining and curating all the soundscape, spacey, ambient, tweeting birds, windy, emotive sounds together into one show could be a nice way of telling a story around this.
I have been at my Mum’s house in Southport during isolation and a family of birds are nesting in the roof above my bedroom window - I thought they should be in the show too as they are a bit of a constant theme tune to my life at the minute. The tweeting gets louder when the mummy and daddy birds come back with some food and then they all chill out when they fly off again. I popped my head out the window the other day to see what was going on and saw a wee head looking down from above me. As I recorded the birds in the roof, my neighbours were also brushing their front garden. These things have inspired this show.

CocoCobra got involved with electronic music and raves in her teenage years. She was organizing parties with friends and started doing artworks. Her desire was not only create the visual appearance of the venue, but also create an atmosphere with music. In 2018 she had her first small gigs and felt very insecure. The scene in smaller towns like Hanover (Germany) is very male-dominated and she wanted to have a space where women* and LGBTIQA+ can express themselves freely. That's why, together with friends, they founded "soft spot" - a club-night and a DJ collective. They are looking for spaces for experimental, electronic sounds and queer feminist politics on and off the dance floor.
She understands DJing as an expression of her own mood and feelings, which are neither bound to genres nor to bpms. It‘s a process of learning , evolving and especially getting to know oneself. Whether it is
techno, house, breaks or ambient, the intensity should not be missing in the music.

We welcome ona:v to the HD mix series for mix #055.

Polish-born, Edinburgh-based, ona:v began DJing while still in Poland, but started playing in Edinburgh clubs in 2019. Since then, she become part of the Sisu roster, secured two radio show residencies (on EH-FM as CiRCLE and Fnoob Techno Radio as ReView) and played in some of Edinburgh's best techno venues. She also founded an all-female electro/techno DJ collective EPiKA - their launch night, scheduled for the beginning of April, was cancelled in the face of the pandemic. Her DJ sets are characterised by high-energy electro tracks and nostalgic early 2000s rave anthems mixed with high-bpm techno.

Noemie French DJ and producer based in Berlin and a record lover. In love with electronic music for a while now, she naturally started djing and then producing.
Influenced by the 90s love parade and the old school techno, today she loves to mix old and new style. Identifying herself with the hard dance movement, Noemie is inspired by Possession Techno parties and podcast. She likes to play fast techno with old school melody.

Punching through the end of 2020, @sisu_crew's ona:v races between electro, breaks, techno, ghettotech and hardtech in this 2h26m crescendo.

A scientist by day and a DJ by night, Polish-born and Edinburgh-based ona:v began DJing in Edinburgh clubs in 2019. With distinctive taste for fast-paced and energetic tracks, she packs her DJ mixes with high-energy electro and techno. With the current techno scene being out of underground and subject to market forces, she finds gems amongst old and lesser known tracks/artists, to create her own sound.

She is an advocate for fxmale representation in the electronic music industry and believes the best way to increase the proportion of womxn in the electronic music world is platforming...and so, her mixes and sets always feature amazing tracks by amazing womxn producers! To further promote womxn DJs, together with another Scottish DJ, KT.K, ona:v founded an all-female electro/techno DJ collective EPiKA. The aim of EPiKA is to promote womxn playing heavier flavours of electronic music through organising a series of fxmale-led nights in Edinburgh and to create a welcoming and supportive environment for beginner fxmale DJs. EPiKA’s launch night was scheduled for April 2020 and cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, but plans are under way for 2021. ona:v also uses one of her radio residencies to promote fxmale DJs by inviting fxmale and non-binary DJs to record mixes for her monthly show on Edinburgh’s EH-FM community radio (CiRCLE by ona:v). To make the clubbing world more welcoming, she also runs a meetup page, where strangers can meet and join her and her friends for electronic nights out.

Despite the pandemic closing clubs (in Scotland, clubs have not opened since late March), 2020 was busy for ona:v. In February, she played at the launch of electro-only night by the Scottish electro collective SLR. After clubs closed, she has participated in numerous streams and recorded a number of quality mixes for podcasts and radio shows - for example for Scottish labels Animal Farm and Hilltown Disco. She also has become part of the Sisu roster and secured two radio residencies (the already mentioned EH-FM residency as CiRCLE, and Fnoob Techno Radio residency as ReView).
