In a curious way, Renata Slama's life has allowed her to reach out and get in touch with music in multiple ways, from playing guitar and piano in childhood to going deeper into musical theory. With Israeli blood going through her veins and under the alias of Lady Slama, the Brazilian DJ has been spinning the decks since 2017, simultaneously producing and djing in the Sao Paulo based downtempo music collective Quack that creates engaging cultural underground events. As a junction of deep-cosmic-alien meets Brazilian, mixed with the Orient, peppered with organic Latin, Lady Slama reflects on her selections a cosmopolitan view by bringing unique references together as an extra.

As a contribution in our 151th edition, her almost two hours mixtape includes several mashups, samples, field recordings and some edits with Lady Slama personal-touch, all mixed in Ableton. Therefore, nothing is random, everything in its right place. In order to instigate communication through her work, the beginning of the set is a tribute to all the women channeled in the poem of her friend Cecilia Erisman, based on the rights and entitlements claimed for women and girls worldwide. Following on, she rambles a territory with quietly delirious sounds, also in a romantic vintage dress when playing unexpected, nostalgic and pulsating grooves. We will not enlarge any further on the words, but remember, nothing is random.

It occasionally happens that a set should not be planned and should be based entirely on the energy from the crowd. This was the case for me during my Spirit Train set and the energy from the crowd was completely palpable at 4am on that Sunday morning. Taking over from where @jerri-mperdempes left off was ideal. A bit of a bucket list item was also struck off due to playing before the legend @madmotormiquel , who's productions I've been playing for a good 12 years now.

This is the set I played on Monday Morning from 7.30-10am in Räuberhöhle at Fusion 2019.. 
I have to be honest, this gig was one of the most challenging I have ever played. After all, what can you still add after 5 days and nights of amazing music, performances, art and beautiful connections ? Adding on top of that my own state after having been on site from the start.. it made for some serious pre-gig thoughts of „whats this gonna be like“. But when I stepped into the madness that is Räuberhöhle on a Monday Morning, all was forgotten. It’s hard to put into words the energy of the crowd during those 2,5 hours.. like last year, I had a hard time stopping to smile. Thank you to all the dancers and to the Räuberhöhle crew for making this amazing little techno kitchen boil over with such energy from start to finish <3

For its 4th edition, WHERE THE SHEEP SLEEP surpassed my expectations, although I learned not to have any in mind. I like surprises :-) Thank you Burning Marcel for letting me play in your amazing DJ booth you created giving the playa wings to fly. Together we create and appreciate art, immerse ourselves in inspiring performances, dance beneath the stars, enjoy a million hugs and share the deepest connections. 

This set starts shanti shanti to become more and more fast, good oriental deep house with a spice of tech house. I missed the recored button the 5 first minutes but don't worry it last 3hours !

The grasshopper may be inherently an earth creature, it is also heavily attuned to the wind. Hence, it is both grounded and free, striking a balance between humility and daydreaming, between having its feet on the ground and having its head in the clouds.

There are moments where you are sure, that you have found or 'catched' something very precious.......... If you open your hand it will stay for a while or jump off....... So lets appreciate what comes..... and goes.... we are all just visitors on this cosmic ride.
