A new year means new musical horizons here at the Bordello. Curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. Hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. “Pedal To The Metal And Don’t Look Back” is a perfect introduction to Curses’ multifaceted sound. Beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. “Knife in Teeth” comes from a similarly shadowy lair. Dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict EBM parents. Terr takes on “Pedal To The Metal And Don’t Look Back” and does the original proud. Bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. Murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. The Bird of Paradise closes the EP with his psychedelic take on “Knife in Teeth.” Drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

Italian producer Dino Lenny is the Fine Human Records label head who has been making music since the 90s. He's remixed huge names like Missy Elliott and Timbaland and has been collaborating with everyone from Madonna to Wu Tang Clan to Seth Troxler & Dixon. He has been named "A wizard of electronic music" by the Chemical Brothers, played live with Underworld, released music on the likes of Innervisions, Diynamic & Correspondant, and is currently signed to Ellum. 

For his debut release on Roam Recordings Lenny delivers a stunning EP titled 'Tokyo'. The original mix showcases Lenny's original vocals woven into a dance balad that could easily fit into a classic set of 80s electronica. The Black Mami remix strips down the original vocal with a hypnotic rendition beating with pulsating arpeggios. Long time Roam alumni Damon Jee returns to deliver a huge remix that elegantly bangs out the original melodies and stylish electronics of the original.

Duro's four-year anniversary celebrations continue into 2020 with the second part of their 'Muy Duro' VA release.

Celebrating every explorative sound, feeling and experience the Mexican label has become synonymous with over its short but impactful life so far; across these five tracks the label takes us down a maze of musical rabbit holes. Each one coming from a new friend of the label hailing from Berlin to Buenos Aires, each one designed to suck you right into the groove, each one capturing the essence of what Duro stands for.

Opening duties are taken care of by Fausto. Here the Mexican artist sets the scene with a cosmic voyage. Deep chugs and rippling guitars, 'Rumble' starts us off as we mean to go on. It's followed by Darlyn Vlys' equally mesmerising 'Wuzu'. Big reverbed drums and vivid calls of the wild, it's swampy, intense trip into the rain forests. With no clear way home.

Elsewhere Jepe's 'Rosmarin' takes a darker, heads-down approach with its rumbling acid and switched-up kicks while MORDISCO takes the tempo right down and deftly weaves his Latin roots into a hunched-back, ever-mutating creeper 'Sacromonte'. Last but never ever least, Argentinian duo Carisma live up to their name once again with the heavyweight 'Otro Planeta'. Heavy, moody, spiky and laced with iron kicks and a superb elastic bassline, it's the perfect conclusion to another powerful collection from Duro.

Here's to a new year and a new decade. Duro are only just warming up.

Introducing LYNCH, the new EP from the artist SHUBOSTAR and the first release from French label, ANO ANO.

The South Korean producer based in MXC unveils her latest EP "Lynch” where Sci-Fi and Dark Disco collide. After her take over of Burning Man’s main Mayan Warrior stage in 2019, SHUBOSTAR has been on the rise and she’s only just begun.

Our journey begins with "Lynch", a title which pays homage to the renowned American filmmaker, David Lynch. A punchy track built around a captivating bassline where atmospheric melodies gradually creep in.
The exploration continues with the dreamy 'Maoi’. Haunting keys, shamanic voices and a striking rhythmic base fold into one another to create a meditative masterpiece.

On the remix side, Darlyn Vlys, Damon Jee and Curses take our cosmic-disco trip straight to the dance floor. The French duo, Darlyn Vlys & Doman Jee, tackle ‘Lynch’ with a fast pace interpretation. A base of percussion and drums, distorted by guitar riffs perfectly meld to get your hips shaking.
