well, after almost 2 years of work the Etherea Community Album is out (@etherea_acc). it was an absolute pleasure working with some of my favorite people in the world on this album and on this song!! It's a concept album in support of OutRight Action International, a charity currently in support of LGBTQIA+ rights in Ukraine. Etherea is an international online community of young digital musicians, visual artists and writers, founded in December 2019 by concept musician and producer, Aspect. Our musicians primarily create all flavours of electronic music with a cinematic flair, though our stylistic influences range greatly from artist to artist. Many of us are also heavily influenced by folk, jazz, classical music, progressive metal, ambient music, and the deepest realms of experimentalism. But most of all, we are a tight-knit group of friends who have found a home in our corner of the internet’s vibrant culture, restless creativity, and philosophy of inclusion and kindness to all.

Over the past year, 26 of our community members have worked together to create our first ever community-wide concept album, “As The Universe, So The Soul”. Our community members first wrote a story, revolving around an all-powerful, yet lonely spirit who contains an entire world in their heart, to serve as the basis for the album’s music. Each track on this project had to be a collaboration between two or more artists, and as a result, we were able to push each other into sonic territory we’d never explored before. Our community’s visual artists then collaborated with each other to create concept art for the album, based on the music and writing, which then became the cover art. Storytelling and a DIY attitude has always been a large part of our community’s art, and as such, this album is designed to reflect our identities as creators.

100% of the proceeds from this album will be going directly to OutRight Action International’s LGBTQ+ Ukraine Emergency Fund, which seeks to provide relief to LGBTQ+ Ukrainians who may be discriminated against in humanitarian efforts. Given that a large portion of our community is LGBTQ+, and many of us wish to do what we can to help those in the midst of Ukraine’s current humanitarian crisis, this cause is close to our hearts.

Many of us, as storytellers, create music to tell our own stories - some of which may be stories that don’t always get the spotlight in today’s music industry. We’re extremely excited that our community can take a first step in telling our stories to the world.

-Alow is a San Francisco based artist who is continuously trying to branch out and find new methods of creativity within his music. He started messing around on the piano at just two years old, and nearly 2 decades later, has become a well recognized artist with a self made style from the years of inspiration pooled around him. Playing saxophone, piano, and an array of other instruments, both digital and physical alike, led him on a path of his own; which eventually led to his debut signing and release with bitbird during the create together challenge in 2021 with shwirl and faux ivvy. He would later go on to other labels and creatives such as: Digital Daydream, SILKENWOOD, artbyform and Lacuna (so far)! During his time releasing songs, -Alow has also performed sets for the Webpage 505’s “505FEST” and “Nest Fest”, and was the host of the weekly radio show Electronic Venture on KXSF 102.5 FM, for nearly 2 years. He has worked and released with a plethora of artists, including shwirl (as part of bitbird's create together vol.2), Slyleaf, Moore Kismet, Simulcats, John Haage, euphee, Lillybug, Goodknight, Marcix and many, many more. 

Ben is currently writing music in his bedroom studio in his family home, as he has been for years now, and is very excited to take you on his musical journey that will no doubt be something special.

you can go anywhere regarding music with minimal access to equipment. when i first signed with bitbird and was just starting out, i was using a 121GB computer that was constantly filled with memory, and was living off a 500mb hard drive to store projects; along with a midi controller and some headphones. i never used serum, or anything i've had to pay for up to that point, and all of the plugins and vsts i used then are free so far! if you're newer to creating and are in search of some of the free stuffs, lmk if u want a list or smth for some plugin recs! (im on discord and insta pretty frequently, don't be shy to reach me i actually love getting messages and talking to u guys<3) 

you can get pretty far with just that alone. just experiment with sounds in mind until you find what speaks to you <3
