Ustica - Heaven Door

Per Aspera ad Astra, translated "through the roughness, to the stars," is an EP developed based on imagery, 
suggestions and space missions past and present. The result is an evolutionary soundscape, divided into
chapters, simulating the synchronization to a hypothetical audiovisual on the subject.
This is a significant breakthrough for my creative approach, hitherto rather tied to traditional forms of 
sonification. My goal was to give voice to the spaces that my mind created, without following stylistic form or 
production processes canonical. There was a need to move away from known territory and push
into unexplored techniques, and the discovery of novelty was a constant stimulus to delve deeper.
Much material was obtained extemporaneously with respect to the moment of production on the computer, 
this allowed me to often break away from a metrical "song" and rather have rhythmic or percussive elements 
that followed what came about naturally rather than the other way around as in High Orbit.
There was no shortage of more traditional elements such as the lead line in RUD, while without letting it get 
stuck on classical forms, or acoustic interventions not as heavily processed as the woods in Zero G.
The approach to the spatial theme was inclusive of the wonders derived from the imaginary, as it was for 
more evocative openings as in High Orbit and Zero G, but also of incidents using sonorities placed in less
decipherable such as a deconstructed brass section in Fuel Leakage.

@charlottedewittemusic continues to establish herself as a driving force on the contemporary techno scene with The Healer, her second EP on seminal British imprint @novamutenovamute.

The four-tracker comes after the Belgian has fully broken through with a dark, dense and driving sound that is proudly unrelenting. Her meteoric rise has come off the back of a series of huge productions, plus standout sets at key festivals and clubs all around the world.

Charlotte’s fresh and innovative sound is immediately laid bare on opener ‘The Healer’, with eight minutes of spine-tingling, hypnotic techno. The sleek drums and icy hi-hats soon cast their spell, as well-crafted synths unfold up top to bring real emotion.

Grand River – Pineapple LP

Dutch-Italian composer, musician and producer Aimée Portioli alias Grand River is back on Spazio Disponibile. After a debut record on the label in 2017, she now serves up her first ever physical long player, Pineapple.

The record draws on Portioli’s love of electronic music and sound design, as well as her background in traditional composition and formal training on a range of musical instruments. An experienced sound engineer and composer for national radio, she crafts absorbing film scores, experimental and ambient projects and takes in symphonic calculations that blur the lines between traditional composition and research-based modernism.

All that is evident on Pineapple, which is named after the most peculiar of fruits and is just as peculiar, but ultimately satisfying, across ten remarkable yet rewarding tracks. They are often long pieces which take in wallowing electronic landscapes, with real ambient beauty next to a subtle sense of narrative that is absorbing throughout. Unusual sound sources and a masterful sense of suspense characterize the album and make it as fascinating as it is enjoyable.

Through DJ Charts, statements, mixes and more, we aim to highlight some of the talented and incredible women in the music scene and discuss how we can shape a more gender-balanced world

With an addiction for adventurous selections, blending between dystopian aesthetics and moments of euphoria, REKA has developed her very own personal approach to the electronic spectrum. Playing everything from contemporary techno to the genre’s prototypical past of electro, her mixes are highly sensitive affairs, moving seamlessly through the dance music universe. Collecting vinyl from the age of 10, 

@rebeca also delves into the world of science and it was not until she finished her degree in genetics that she decided to pursue her artistic talents. Now a resident at the legendary club TRESOR in Berlin, REKA’s rich experience and broad musical taste can be heard all the way through her International Women’s Day mix, featuring only tracks made by women or projects involving women.
