Spring is in the air and groove is in the heart for Hamburg’s most loveable record label. 
Following the freak beat festival of Wolf and Wandt’s ‘Instrumentalmusik’ comes a release that’s been in the pipeline since the organic imprint first took root; the first reissue of the beautiful ’Señora’. Beguiling and brilliant, this private press princess makes you want to dance, dream and do cartwheels, then breaks your heart when you realise you’ll never meet her - a rare beauty indeed. So it’s time to let Basso play cupid and introduce you to the love of your life.

Eagle eyed associates might recognise the sleeve as Basso’s everyday avatar, chosen in tribute to his favourite jazz-funk record of all time. Originally released in limited quantities back in 1981, the self titled ‘Señora’ was the sole release from a quartet of German groove maniacs, coming together in one ecstatic union of rhythmic precision, smooth riffing and melodic mastery. 
Take opener ‘Paul’ for example; a continent away from the West End, this sublime slice of raw guitar, silken keys and gliding bass could have made Mel Cheren proud. From there we’re taken on a journey through the syncopated slide of the jazzy ‘My Way, Your Way’, the samba sway of the mild and mellow ‘Easy Going’ and the poetic piano of ‘Pearl’, a triumphantly esoteric tone poem to close the A-side. ‘Señora’ ups the tempo on the flipside, galloping through tight triplets, fusion guitar and mind expanding synth play. The B2 brings a strolling bassline and tender tonality, executed with all the ease of the Sunday morning which dawns on the extended and expansive cooler which brings the LP to its final emotional release. 

Light a candle, change the linen and put the rosé on chill, 
you’re about to fall in love with Señora.

Forriner are Lee Forster and Oli Warriner, better known by their individual projects Last Waltz and Traela who met through their contributions to the Newcastle music scene. Having successfully put out solo material on staples such as ESP Institute, Mule Musiq, Let’s Play House, Tusk Wax and Hhatri, their first releases for Futureboogie Recordings and Man Power’s Me Me Me have been well received including picking up airplay on BBC Radio 1. ‘Meet Me At Burgerellas’ sees the pair join Clandestino’s output whi have released Jose Manuel, Kolomensky, Coyote and Chris Coco picking up support from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Axel Boman, Red Axes, Crazy P and many more.

‘Meet Me At Burgerellas’ kicks things off with fluttering chord progression, angelic leads and alleviating notes keeping the track infectious yet soothing. Cladenstino’s remix of ‘Meet Me At Burgerellas’ progresses into an organic percussive groove, softening melodic elements and gentle vocals in the distance while their ‘Sunrise Mix’ deploys tranquilising elements and calming textures balanced harmoniously with pulsating low-end and euphoric keys.

‘The Cat & Dog Stairs’ throws down punchy drums, playful modulations and blissful swirls of euphoria giving off an emotive and rapturous energy. Longhair are Swift and Marco Pelaic from the Wilde Renate family in Berlin with releases on Schallplatten and Bordello A Parigi. They round things off with a shimmering remix influenced by Italian dream house as the luscious bass notes flow gracefully with the heavenly synths throughout.

This series called Extinct Melodies will be based on nothing and everything, it will be edits that we deem worthy for the world to know. You will find lots of rare forgotten gems and discover new musical horizons, embark on a journey of eclecticism with us. From fun cantonese disco, all the way to the quantum realm of sound.

For the first of the series, we have the honour to greet three selectors/editors by the names of Good Block, Native Red & RFX. The EP is composed of a mix of heavy percussion throughout, representing the heat that can come from a sweaty warehouse party. Some heavy floor bangers for your aerobics sessions.

One Movement Records was founded and launched in 1993 by ex-pat British producer & DJ Matt Hayward. It was a time when there weren't a thousand genres and subgenres of music, there was mostly just 'good music or bad music'.......

All the acts featured on the label were Australian or Australian based and the music ranged in style from Jazz, Acid Jazz, Funk and Soul, through to Hip Hop, Trip Hop and Drum & Bass. 

Operating out of an office in Surry Hills Sydney, the label was distributed via Shock/MDS (Oz) and Timewarp (UK). 

One Movement Record’s "Undertones" compilation series of Australian Acid Jazz, Soul and Funk helped bring worldwide attention to Australian artists such as U.T.E, Hatman, Wicked Beat Sound System, Raised By Wolves, The Aphelionauts, Step it Up, Deborah Gray and Rani amongst others. 

Over a period of five years between 1993 and 1998 the label released six LP’s, two E.P’s and a couple of singles, all on Vinyl and or CD, including compilations and individual artist's releases.

The last release in 1998 was a collection of Australian Drum & Bass called “Force One”. To this day this LP is acknowledged as being the very first Australian Drum & Bass compilation ever produced, and most of the tracks were written specifically for it.
