Jaime wrote and performed this for her sons wedding and it was the song they had for their dance together at the reception. As you can imagine it has very deep emotional connection to all of us and especially Jaime and we hope others will enjoy it as well :)

she said:  music time, for me, has been very limited lately...Gary has
been ever so patient with me...for which i am so very grateful...he's
got such creative juices flowing at the moment...and i feel generally
slacking in that area...that being said, he mentioned a while back
that (perhaps) i may try my hand at writing some lyrics...he had the
idea for a tune called "maze craze"..the idea of the way life
goes...with different paths leading in different directions..and the
choices we make along the way...so, i went about constructing some
lyrics..and Gary wrote some as well...he created/wrote/played all of
the music and came up with some super cool funky transitions as he
does so well!!  He laid down the vocal melody/template and i had a
GREAT time singing along with him! He added his signature guitar
layers that just get me every time!!!    This tune has taken quite a
while to complete...we've gone through many twists and turns (as the
lyrics suggest)...but, in the end...we found our way out of the
"musical maze" ... yay :)

a big shout out to Gary for all that he does...and all that he
is...and another big shout out to all of our SC friends/family who
continue to follow us along and appreciate the music that comes out of
us...

He Said: So Love the lyrics and the vocals Jaime delivered for this new track. Just amazing how well she weaves in and out of this track. This gets back to our earlier work together a bit. We have been working on this one for some time and It is a pleasure to finally be able to get it done.  I cannot reiterate Jaimes words any deeper that we appreciate all the people we have to come to know as friends on the cloud and elsewhere who share the fun and passion of the music we all make.

Sort of a free flowing movement(from one scenario) to another scenario with the sections of this track. We genred it "Ambient Industrial Piano" which will become evident as moving through perhaps. It features 3 (in my opinion) beautiful piano scapes and melodies from Jaime.. which are often times with relation to (Jaimes piano) very goosebump inducing and emotional and for this track are the "pillar points" for the track. Interdisplaces between are kind of just interludes to the next pillar, with some keys placed here and there myself with some sound design,synths,and other stuff etc... for connectivity.

 As we move from place to place within the track. It kind of took us a while to get it all worked out with Jaimes and my schedule etc. We really enjoy these instrumentals that contrast and mix our individual musical vibes into hopefully an interesting twist or turn here and there to take ya into another direction right quick .. we enjoyed it  and hope you will also:) and as always thanks for taking interest if ya do :)

She said:  this tune started, as most of our tunes do, with a really cool groove that Gary came up with..his musical uniqueness, again, blows me away.....he played around with some synths and what (to me) sounds like strings...but, i'm still not sure what that is...lol...it set the tone/stage for what was to come...he added his signature most awesome guitars that i love so much and then asked me if i wanted to add some piano...unfortunately, due to my crazy life schedule right now and some issues i'm having with my hand...i'm not able to play the piano like i used to or like i like to...fortunately, i have saved some snippets from over the years...and a few of those snippets have found their way into this tune...and, i feel...they fit perfectly :)   I have to thank Gary for everything he does to make our tunes sound so good...from all of the instruments/layers he adds...to the flowing/vocal lines...to the production...he loves what he does...and he does it so well...i wish i had more time to create...and more time to reciprocate musical love with all of you...i miss you all...and hope that all of the beautiful  melodies are still flowing freely from your hearts :)

He Said:Jaime was too busy to write a new piano piece on the spot, so she went through some past work she did and sent it over and I think you will be blown away with the organic groove she played here... its aggressive and effectual, but also has this delicateness. I try to capture her piano in such a way that never takes you away from knowing right away , its Jaime. In this track she brought an almost old west style, player piano vibe, like you might hear in a saloon in the old western US.  Just gorgeous I felt.  

I enjoyed weaving in and around with the guitar. I also love the vocal she was able to record for this, not a lyrical song but more the ambient vocal harmony thing we like doing together... 

As for the mix I was going for an almost lo fi opening that might sound like its in a tube with some outliers of sound poking out to the wider field of sound....then we move into a more robust orchestra/tion section as it then slips into a kind of rock instrumental guitar piece where the mix becomes wider , with more pressure from the bass etc...and hopefully more spread out... once we "permeate" we then slip into Jaimes piano work with vocal ambient touches. She really shines with her harmonies I do believe. Catered more to a headphone type experience with a lot of phasing and layers etc... I dont think there are phasing issues per say but it was meant for the phones :) I also have a few section with some heavy "tension and release" kind of where things nearly go off tune and then get uncomfortable and then slip into tune for the release... I hope it works out :)

 I really like how the track came out and I hope those who are maybe reading this like it also :) thanks ahead :)  Gary

She said:  this song started after i received a message from Nick (Spade)...he was speaking of/sharing with me some things and feelings he was going through...and, those things, i could most certainly relate to...i haven't played much piano lately...but, after our conversation, felt compelled to go to the keys...to allow the emotions/feelings i was feeling at that time to come out..through music :)  

music, to me, is freeing (emotionally)...it allows me to say/speak through melodies...the title of this piece is "Free"... for a few different reasons.....no metronomes/played free...

i have to thank Gary for bringing this piano piece to a whole different level for me...with the added ambience, choir and beautiful pads/synths gliding so smoothly underneath...he always loves the piano melodies that come out of me...and i appreciate that so very much...

and to Nick...from one heart to another...i do hope you enjoy this piece...

We Say: We started this base track out and I kept thinking "Oh this would sound so cool with Dave and then another section I thought the same of Nick... this not being our first collab with Nick and Dave , it had been a while and to our happy surprise they both agreed to go all in with us on this one, and I got to say I am really into what they both played here and how they interpreted each the vibe of the song. Dave with his melodic and emotive playing style and musical instincts plays here with a mysterious buildup to a crescendo that brings some goosebumps up the spine.. When you hear Dave play you know that distinctive tone and style. We associate it with quality and talent. 

Then we move into Nicks taking the frets for a very sort of avant garde rhythm section he played as the solo literally rips in at virtuoso rate and yet maintains this very cool and addictive swell and sort of mini melodies around the plateaus. its mesmerising to listen to but also musically pleasing in our humble opinion. The cleanliness of the fretwork is of note yet maintaining a free flowing "ok where the heck are we going here" kind of thing... I love it !!

I think also everyone will enjoy the piano intros and outros that Jaime J Ross played for the track both interpreting essences of each of Nick and Dave's performances in and around the track and we really had a great time as this piece of music built over time :) Jaime always has a beauty and distinctiveness in her piano work... 

All we know is we totally enjoyed playing musical with Dave and Nick and we were so blessed to have to chance to jam on this with all us together again :) here's to the . "Its Us the Neighbors" band ... haha

It seemed like it was time to get the fellas back together for a blast. Sometimes your working on a track and you can hear certain other musicians in parts in your head, and I had this track with some conventional bass and also some synth bass and a bit of a vocal vibe and I passed it over to Dave and Nick to see if they were interested and to my excitement they both were, and so I just said where i might imagine them, but they also took together and worked out the outgoing sections in a wild way that I think those who love their guitar playmanship will really appreciate and how it goes down...

Big Praise and appreciation to Nick and Dave for their amazing interpretations and instrumentation on this track. Please be sure to check them both out on their clouds

Dave starts off the track with an amazing complimentary groove and then rips into and amazing uplifting solo... all his talents and gifts on full display then he hands off the Nick who serenades us with some voice box goodness into a rip your face off solo, bringing them both together in the end with a very unique set of dissonant guitar sections (with a stomp here n there) that also compliment as they fuse together into the sweeping bow sounds of Nick to take us out... love it!!
