The wild awakening summer of 2022 has finally come to close, and what a summer it was. I was lucky enough to not only make my festival debut at AIM Experience in Montreal, but was welcomed to the inaugural Sonic Springs Festival as well as this years edition of Gaiafest in Wakefield, QC. I am truly humbled and grateful for the wonderful experiences, and all the new and genuine connections I made throughout. As always, thank you all for the love and support - I could not/would not be doing this without you.

Who is Mary Hush?

Once again we were invited to discover more hints to answer that elusive question. On May 27th 2023, a portal opened in Ōtautahi Chirstchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, to the Holographic Hotel - a place suspended between our dimension and our imagination. Time works differently there, and its guests were those of stories, memories, dreams, myths, fables, and legends. Once we arrived safely, thanks to the guidance of the Stewards of the Portals, we were greeted by EL-42, a bell droid of the Holographic Hotel. History, realities and quantum superpositions of paths all intersect throughout its hidden halls. Once we had settled in, a succession of portals opened from other times, places and cultures that co-created an opening ceremony that will be remembered and retold throughout the ages to come. The last portal to open transmitted a beautiful waiata sung by karanga wahine, who passed me a holographic fern that I picked up as I started playing the first tune, dropping a deep bassline to allow us all to drop in fully.

This is my opening set of the Holographic Hotel: a raw odyssey within an odyssey, giving guests at the Holographic Hotel a glimpse of things to come later in the night, foreshadowing a great many riveting stories that were yet to unfold. Travel well, dear friend, and remember (as Rumi said): “Don’t be satisfied with stories; how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth” 

A heartfelt dankeschön, ngā mihi nui, thank you to all those who came before me and who will come after me. Thank you to the land where I grew up in Germany, the beautiful rolling hills of Allgäu in South Bavaria. Kia ora, pfiad eich!
