Nordic Trax brings you another promising talent in Newcastle producer Cristoph. Rich with experience in deejaying and musicianship, Cristoph’s ‘Big H’ EP comes forged as an effective collection of bass-driven Deep House that’s been road tested during his sets in Ibiza and across Europe. A relative newcomer, Cristoph has already had a #1 on Defected which found its way onto Radio 1 and in Groove Armada’s season-closing set at We Love (Space). Meanwhile, longtime NT supporter Nacho Marco delivered his knock-out remix of Big H which made its world premiere at the closing of Sonar 2013 broadcast on national radio across Spain. The future looks bright for Cristoph.

Big H chugs out of the starting blocks with reverberated congas and syncopated hat sequences.Nifty melodicism and tenebrous vocal chops sit above a robust foundation as tension continues to climb to the close. Nacho Marco’s remix wades in with neatly mapped percussion ahead of some allaying synth tones and a rich bass pattern. The vocals glow through piano stabs as tension lifts and falls throughout.

VMC kicks off with palpable claps and hats swinging alongside panned vocal chops and a taught kick. A hypnotic synth sequence skewers through the mix before vocals are layered to handraising effect whilst the Dub version keeps things anchored down with a slightly more brooding atmosphere. Waal is a jackin and physical production. In a manner akin to Eats Everything, muscular bass patterns and immaculately plotted vocal shops gambol in and catch the listener off guard. Tension climbs in a stretched rise that’s guaranteed to satisfy prime time dance floors.

We're just a little bit proud of this collaboration. We've been working with these two guys for a while now and thought their talents would be a perfect match. After a bit of cajoling, we got the two of them in the studio and boy are we glad we did.

There is no other way to put this - "Do Anything You Wanna" is an absolute anthem. The vocals are hooky like "Shake That", pianos classy like Ejeca's finest and its beats walk around like they are bigger than Prince. 
An instant dancefloor bomb that should propel two of Glasgow's hottest new talents on to seriously big things.

"The Times We Shared" is a bit moodier, but equally floor-filling. It oozes vocal style like the best of Diynamic but with some added super-tough Glaswegian beats that take the record into the kind of territory Deep Dish would be in (if they were still making records as good as they did in '94 today).

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

Following on from his mammoth release earlier this year, we turn our attention firmly back on our boy SMOKI, as he sets his sights on blowing the competition out the water with this absolute game changer of a record, Let You Go, with remixes from As I Am and AndMe. With shimmering vocals and moody beats, the EP hits that highly coveted sweet spot - a sound to chill out to on a hot summers day, but can also get the party started after dark. With early support from Target, Tough Love and a few others on BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 1 & Kiss FM.

The original mix kicks off with a hollow, punchy beat, and the slick production we heard in 'Don't Think' comes through once again to meld an unforgettable vocal top-line with pulsing synths and solid piano grooves.

House heavyweight As I Am then brings his base-heavy, club-focused energy to the track, the distorted vocals and big build ups giving it an undeniably peak-time sound.

Rounding off the EP is Onefold's very own AndMe, who strips back the vocals giving us a complex, percussion focused mix. Two expertly crafted takes on this essential new track.

The remix by Hot Since 82 transforms the original into an even darker affair, adding spooky synth pads and a slightly techier groove.

For "On &amp; On" James takes similar ingredients as for "Nothing Else Matters" - killer bass, irresistible vocal, massive production - but cooks up a slightly deeper track, perfect to be enjoyed at the earlier or later hours of the night.

Man of the moment Manik NYC delivers a MASSIVE remix for "On &amp; On", adding a subsonic garage-ish bassline, eerie synth stabs, little acid licks and jacking rimshots.
