This album is Down Under which is the fourth part of the project of Australian music and another tribute album to Australian Bands and Artists. The first volume is called Sounds of Then...This is Australia, the second volume is True Blue, and the third volume is called Howzat.

There were great Australian Bands and Artists whose music I loved right from my early teens to my late 40s …I have picked songs that have had a connection with me and always wanted to do my own ‘cover versions’…So there are songs across the generations from 1970 to 2016 which covers many bands and artists, so something for everyone...

The title song Down Under (Men at Work) (1980) is an upbeat version, with a touch of country flavour and is a new version from the one I recorded in Feb 2020. So, I hope you enjoy the new version and the video to complement this song is also on my YouTube channel (see below for link).

Cheap Thrills is a song by Australian songwriter and artist Sia in 2016. It is a bouncy "reggae-tinged" dance song and is bound to get you in the dancing mood...

The Little River Band had many hits and Curiosity Killed the Cat (1975) is one of those catchy songs that will get you humming the tune long after you first hear it. I always wanted to record my own cover version and hope it resonates with you as well.

I have also focused on Australian rock artist such as Jimmy Barnes who released Driving Wheels in Jan 1988. It has some great opening riffs and is one of my all-time favourites. Solid Rock was recorded by Australian rock band Goanna and was released in September 1982 as the lead single from the band's debut studio album, Spirit of Place. "Solid Rock" peaked at number 2. 

No Lies is the debut single by Australian rock-pop band Noiseworks. It was released in 1986 as the first single from their first studio album Noiseworks and peaked at number 31. Love their music...so hope you enjoy this one as well...

Other songs included in this Album are Errol by Australian Crawl (1981), Cassandra by Sherbet (1973), Crazy by Icehouse (1987), You Shook Me All Night Long (ACDC) (1986), Ita by (Cold Chisel) (1980), and State of the Heart (Mondo Rock) (1980).

Solo Australian artists include Marcia Hines’ song titled You (Without You) (1977), Marty Rhone Denim and Lace (1975), Lady, What’s Your Name by John Swan, better known as Swanee who is the elder brother of  singer-songwriter Jimmy Barnes. The song was released in 1982.

I have recorded two songs by Australian artist Oliva Newton-John. If Not for You (1971) and Hopelessly Devoted to You (1978). I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (1981).

Ted Mulry is an Australian singer, songwriter, bass player and guitarist. I have always loved his music and have recorded several of his songs which are on various albums. Julia (1970) is another hit which is on this album.

Home Among the Gum Trees by Australian artist John Williamson) (1974) is a popular Australian Folk song and I encourage you to singing along to this one.

I had a few ‘Aha’ moments with this album, as I continue to learn and upskill my music mastering techniques. 

I’m sure this selection of songs will bring back memories for some of you, whilst for others, it may bring about a new listening experience of Australian Music.

This is the most ancient love song in the world,  by the Sumerian goddess Inanna to her lover, the shepherd Dumuzi. 

You find lots of erotic imagery in the arts connected to the temple sex rites of the Fertile Crescent, which were about the Divine Marriage or Alchemical Marriage. This poem, attributed to Inanna, comes from the Isin-Larsa period (2017-1763 BCE) in Uruk, in which the EN-priest or king would engage in sexual congress with Inanna’s representative from the ranks of ENTU-priestesses.

This is my 54th Album ‘Mother’s Love…Vol.5’ which is the music is of an era long forgotten, I have also included some modern renditions and covers the period from 1904 to 2025. 

To every mother who held us close when we trembled, who found strength in our laughter and hope in our tears…this album is yours and a tribute to your boundless compassion, quiet courage, and the countless ways you light our lives. 

‘Mood Medley’ is a medley of 7 German, and 2 English songs complied by musician ‘3 Z’widen’ and recorded and mixed by O’Neill Fernandes for his Album ‘Mother’s Love Vol.5’ (July 2025)

‘Sweet Kisses’ is a song by Jean Drooghaag, released on May 30, 2014, and is featured on her album "Caramia".

‘Buona Sera’ is a song written by Carl Sigman and Peter de Rose and best known for being performed by Louis Prima in 1956. 

‘Calcutta’ is a German pop song. An instrumental version by American bandleader and TV host Lawrence Welk on the 1961 Dot Records album ‘Calcutta’ was a Number One song in the United States.

‘Weekend and Sunshine’ (Wochenend und Sonnenschein) is a song composed by Milton Ager and Charles Amberg, famously performed by James Last & His Orchestra in 1974.

‘Blue Moon Dancing’" is a song by the Dutch musical duo Tol & Tol, released in 1999 on their Album ‘IV’.

‘1000 Dreams’ is a guitar instrumental piece composed and performed by German guitarist Ricky King on his Album ‘Zeitlos’ in 2014

‘Moonlight and Roses’ is a song performed by Billy Vaughn and His Orchestra from his Album ‘The Very Best of Billy Vaughn’ (1982).

‘Fascination’ is a popular waltz song with music (1904) by Fermo Dante Marchetti and lyrics (1905) by Maurice de Féraudy. 

‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ is a song from the musical My Fair Lady, with music written by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, published in 1956. 

‘Cheek to Cheek’ is a song written by Irving Berlin in 1934–35, specifically for Fred Astaire, the star of his new musical, Top Hat. 

‘That Old Black Magic’ is a 1942 popular song written by Harold Arlen (music), with the lyrics by Johnny Mercer.  Glenn Miller reached number one on Billboard with his recording on Victor Records in 1943 featuring Skip Nelson on vocals.

‘Mélodie d'amour’ is a 1989 song recorded by French Brazilian band Kaoma. Written by Loalwa Braz and Jean-Claude Bonaventure, it was released in March 1990 as the third single from their 1989 album ‘Worldbeat’.

‘Berlin Melody’ is a song by Billy Vaughn and His Orchestra from the Album of the same name and was released in 1961.

‘Sweet Memories’ (Memory Melody) is a song by Peter Tex from his Album ‘Saxophonträume’ (1992).

‘The Singing Hills’ is a song recorded by Billy Vaughn and his Orchestra and released as a single in 1958. The song charted at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. 

‘My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean’ is a traditional Scottish folk song that is popular in Western culture. The song has been recorded by numerous artists since the beginning of the 20th century. 
‘Are You An Angel To Me’ (Bist du ein Engel für mich) is a song by Dutch artist René Le Blanc and was released on the Album of the same name in 2025.

‘A Thousand Times’ is a song by the Band ‘Picture This’ from their Album ‘Let The Light In’ and was released in 2025.

‘Good Times Music’ is a song by the Band ‘The Lords’ from their Album ‘Ulleogamaxbe’ and was released in 1969.

‘Schützenliesel-Polka’ is a song by James Last from his Album Polka Party and was released in 1971.

‘Come What May’ is a song by Lani Hall and Herb Alpert and was released as a single in 1980.

‘The Lonely Shepherd’ also known as ‘Einsamer Hirte or Der einsame Hirte’ in German or as El pastor solitario in Spanish, is an instrumental piece by James Last.

Music is such a fascinating subject in that I continue to learn and improve my guitar skills and music production experience…especially true for this album where I discovered new instrument plug-ins which make a difference to the final mastering of the song. So, I’m constantly learning and enjoying the experience…

This Album contains hits mainly from the 70’s and 80’s and I have picked songs that have had a connection with me and were my favourites… The first six songs of the album are pretty upbeat, so it’s bound to get you up dancing or lifting the mood…

There are other rock classics like Hot in the City, Go All the Way, Time is Tight, Green River, Get Off My Cloud, Hot Love which will bring back memories for some of you…

Albert Hammond was a good English singer and songwriter who sung hits like It Never Rains in Southern California, Down by The River (which is on my Classic Rock…Vol.2 Album) and this other great Rock Ballard: The Free Electric Band which is on this Album. I hope you enjoy my cover version of his songs…   

I still have a great selection of rock songs that I want to record…so watch this space for more rock classic releases…

Taylor Dayne is an American singer, song writer and actress who rose to fame in the 8o’s…this Rock Ballard: Love Will Lead You Back is one of my favourites and is included on this album…so hope You enjoy it…

This album is Eternally is a collection of love ballads that takes you on a nostalgic journey of music through the generations…  

The album is dedicated in loving memory of our Dad (Austin) and the title song ‘Eternally’ was one of his favourites, which he sang quite often in the shower...some fond memories there... 
 
This is a chill-out album which is easy to listen and has some great hits like Stone in Love With You, My Happiness, Ace of Hearts, Amor, Afternoon Delight, Never Be Anyone Else But You, Long Live Love which will hopefully bring back some fond memories...

In the 70’s there was a song called Sad Eyes which is one of my favourites and I hope you enjoy my cover version of this song... 

There are other hits like Les Bicyclettes De Belsize, Dance While the Music Goes On, I Haven’t Met You Yet, Rose Garden, Old Fashioned Love Song...so hope you enjoy these songs as well…

Other songs include Baby I Love You, A Little More Love and Going Home (Theme Song from Local Hero). A great new song from Lucas Graham called Love Someone, which is a wonderful melody...I enjoyed recording this one and hope it resonates with you as well.
