Welcome to our version  (experimental )  on Ennio Morricone’s  “Once upon a time in the West (theme)”
We wanted to do an experiment, make a piece in complete free hand (free motion) without metronome, starting to create choirs first to make them sound as realistic as possible, and then create an orchestra around those tracks.

We split up the song in 2 parts, as by hearing the original soundtrack has 2 different rhythms / tempo’s, and we worked on those 2 parts separately, without consulting each other as we normally do by Skype, email  or telephone.

As we all know people hear and experience different things in music, and we just wanted to see how close our creations would come together in the pre-production, when all the tracks were completed,  I cut all the tracks in bits of 1 second, and I allowed myself to make slight changes within parts of 0,125 second on all tracks to make both Matt’s and my instruments sound as smooth as possible, keeping the Ennio’s main theme sound recognizable for everybody, and still give it our own signature at the same time, because we don’t  want to sound like copy-cats.

Most musicians and composers will say that’s impossible, as we also thought so ourselves ( especially as Matt lives in England and I in Holland, so we can’t sit next to each other ), but we did it anyway, another prove that collaborating and creating music together for almost 3 years, makes us a solid team, and we understand each other almost blindly, and I am very proud of Matt what he has accomplished through the years, and honored to work together with him.
Although this may not sound exactly like the soundtrack most of you know it, we hope you will enjoy our version too.

We are planning to do the “final” of Ennio’s composition (which is longer) later this year, with real voices.

Hi there and welcome to my 2024 Christmas release, 'Winter Wonderland'. Composed as a special Christmas gift to everyone involved in Music For Brains project.

I am so immensely proud to nearing the end of my third year as the composer for this special project and hope that this track will bring special Seasons greetings to all.

For me, this track conjures up the magical energy of this time of year, the busy towns and Christmas markets. Families and friends of all ages coming together to spend time together, either before or during the Christmas holidays. The excitement of children looking forward to their toys and family games. The joy of grandparents being surrounded by their family celebrating special times past and present. A time of year when we can give praise for what we have and spare a thought or some time and charity helping those less fortunate. The hope and prayers for peace and harmony in a world that seems to be blighted with conflict.

I hope this track brings you some special thoughts and perhaps a moment to rest and reflect upon your own feelings.

Love Masquerade - NEON MONOLITH

Hi there and welcome to one my latest compositions for Music For Brains, 'Arduinna' 

This track is inspired by the Celtic Goddess of the Forest. 

Arduinna, Gaulish Goddess of Forests and Hunting is one of the many Celtic Goddesses who is associated with a particular region or body of water.  She was worshipped in the heavily forested regions of the Ardennes, located in what is current day Belgium and Luxembourg with small portions found in France and Germany. She was also associated with the Forest of Arden in England. Her name has its roots in the Gaulish word “arduo” meaning “height”.

I like the thought of the Ancient association with deities that influenced the passing of time and the more basic needs, harvest, forests, hunting, fertility etc, before the world was as complicated and fast paced. 

In this track I imagine wondering through an ancient woodland on a spring morning with the sunlight tracing beams through the woodland canopy, casting pools of light across the forest floor.

Arduinna - Music For Brains

Hi there and welcome to the latest release from NEON MONOLITH, 'Nostalgia'

This track is potentially going to be the title track of a new album of NEON MONOLITH track I plan to release soon. It is a homage to growing up in the 80's when listening to the radio, or a cassette of the hit parade (top of the pops, or the charts back then), was all that you lived for. Going to your friends house with your box of single or cassette, sitting in your bedroom, with posters on the walls, talking about things and writing songs.

Dreaming of a day when you may have a 4 or 8 track recorder, a sequencer, drum machine and a synthesiser. I used to buy melody maker magazine just to look at the adverts for gear.

Welcome to our latest release, 'Wall Between Us' By INNER FIRE



Walls Between Us - INNER FIRE

Finally as promised for so long, a solo project by John Styles, and many new songs will follow shortly.

As many of you know by now, I am not able to work as fast as I would love to, that is also one of the reasons why I prefer to collaborate with my friends, because is it for me also a big motivation to continue and learn to find the best way to recover / improve my skills all over again and overcome my disabilities.
Between all collabs with my dear friends (for which I am very grateful for their support), I still continue to record / create my solo projects, and it’s my goal to create at least 6 of them each year. 

This creation is an instrumental version of Only Teardrops (eurovision song winner in 2013 sang by Emmelie de Forest for Denmark), but then slightly faster recorded / played then the original.
I started to record this song in July 2016, as I’ve always loved the instrumental version very much, but I couldn’t get the synthesizer sound right, for some reason the sound dragged the overall mix, after I moved into my new studio, I played around by pitching the Bpm, and I noticed that when I increased the tempo slightly everything sounded a lot better (the dragging stopped), at least the way I wanted it to sound like.
Besides the fact that the choirs are not fully 100% as I would love them to be, I think it’s the best I could do for now, I might pick this song up again at a later stage, and try to make everything sound perfect, or make a Orchestral version out of it (and of course make it longer).
Still, I hope you all enjoy this version as much as I did creating & producing it.

I am John de Bruijn, born in Holland in 1956, since 1972 I'm a songwriter, composer, producer and arranger by the name John Styles, and I recorded several songs within different Projects also with other groups.
I wrote a lot of ballads in the past also for other artists, when i started working within Projects, I started into making background / theme-music for docu's, movies & commercials, and I still do.

I also collaborated with many artists over the years, We found the right way to work together, talking on the phone or skype discussing what or how we want things to be build up, and keep sending tracks back and forth till we're all satisfied.
The nice thing of working into those Projects is that you can help new talents on their way, and working with them also gave me other chances, and I became a allround songwriter / composer within all styles and types of music.
I traveled all over the world to scout for new talents, which made me a more fulfilling person, and I feel rich (not moneywise), being so close to so many cultures I learned so much, and I also make Therapy Music for about 10 years now.

I am very happy that my music helps so many people all over the world, and that I can use my talent to help others, so that my God's given gift can be spread out and touch others, I'm blessed to be able to reach so many hearts and souls.
Music is my drive, without it I wouldn't feel alive, it's also a therapy for me, and luckily my family supports me all the way, that makes me a very happy man, and hopefully you'll be able to hear and sense that within my music, ENJOY my music!!!!!
