I released this piece a few days ago. I thought I was done with it. Well ...

I really appreciate all the listens and feedback the previous post received, BUT - upon listening to the track some 6-10 times over the past few days, I realized something was bumming me out big time about it. No, it's not a 'happy' piece, nor is it intended to be - but it was something a little more than just the 'vibe'. I simply did not feel completely satisfied with the work as a whole, and as such - was beginning to wonder if I had made an error in releasing it to the public at all.

So. after cataloging all of my issues with the piece, I found most of them boiled down to things like the dynamic narrative, as well as the general busyness of it. I've made an effort to correct these things (mostly tiny details that make a HUGE difference), and it now is more consistent with my original vision. I believe this remix is both more dynamically satisfying AND it has a bit more breathing room. Oh and the artwork, "The Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli, is far more appropriate tonally than the visual pun of the warp-speed pool water.

And what was my original vision? Well here's what I said a few days ago:

I suffer from sleep paralysis. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a condition where you are stuck between sleep and awakedness and literally feel paralyzed - because you are. Often this sensation is accompanied by strong hallucinations, both visual and auditory and feelings of panic. Oftentimes it feels like there is a weight on your chest, like a cat - or something far, far more sinister.

This piece is me dealing with these paralysis dreams. It features notable contributions by my friends Billy Salvatori and Nathan James, without whom, this simply would not be. A bit of trivia - the rain at the beginning of the piece is actual rain that lead to a nasty flood that nearly kept me from getting home one night. Where is art without a little suffering?

When I was in college I started down the rabbit hole of everything David Lynch and have found so much inspiration in his work over the years. This is a song that has haunted me for most of my life as I was 6 when the series originally aired and my parents were immersed in it.  I really wanted to put my spin on it as it's probably the most gorgeous three chord song in existence; and I wanted the end of the song to feel like you were being sucked into the Black Lodge.
