Fresh from debuting his live performance at ADE, Petrichor will be kicking off the night with his typical lush, organic deep Techno which has won him praise form some of techno's biggest stars. With only two releases under his belt as Petrichor, the man behind the project, Glasgow based Simon Stokes has been working in electronic music for some time and has recently become a certified Ableton instructor heading up the recent re-launch of the Soma Skool. Helping fledgling producers get grounding in electronic music.

Before there was Soundcloud I posted my sets on a London-based electronic music discussion group called "4four."  Around February 2007 I posted a set there from a guest spot I did on Frisky Radio.  The next month I received an email from a promoter in Japan who asked if I was interested in coming there to play.  Well of course I was very interested but I don't hold my breath on such offers, knowing that one pans out for maybe every 4 that don't.

This one panned out fantastically well into a weeklong trip to Japan and the most amazing festival experience and dj experience of my life!  From the friendly people that picked me up at Narita airport to the dance marathon (most I have danced in my life) over 3 days and nights and a lineup that included Adam Beyer, Minilogue, Three, Donato Dozzy, Dave Mothersole, D-Nox, Alex Smoke, Aril Brikha, Cobblestone Jazz, Surgeon, Ryan Elliot and more, to the final days hanging out together in Tokyo, this trip was a life-changing experience.  It was right after the first Tropical campout and totally inspired me to keep doing Tropical in an outdoor setting.  Can't say enough about it, how well it was organized, how well the artists were treated, how amazing the crowd was, or the 48-cabinet Funktion One Sound system that tickled our ears.  An absolute delight!

So getting booked here both in 2007 and 2008 as a very underground - ie less famous - artist than pretty much every other international dj on the bill is one of my top life accomplishments :)  I think I am overall a much better dj in 2013 than in 2007 but this was a party I went all out in my preparation for and I would still be proud to play this set today.  

Timing-wise this was around 4am-6am Sunday morning, I think my set was actually 3am-6am but the first hour did not get recorded.  I played after Surgeon, and before Aril Brikha, through the sunrise, with the first part in darkness and last hour in light, you will feel the change in the music I'm sure :)

Another highlight out of our back catalogue, produced by @Daso and released in 2007. "Thujon" is such a bomb in the club. The real "hit" on this release, however, is "La Fée Verte", a wonderful musical seduction.

Daso, a fellow well known not only for his fantastic releases on MBF and Connaisseur, but also for his furious live-sets, sets out to bring the noise again. After having been inspired by the nerdy world of old-schoolish adventure games for his last release, he uses the dissolute world of absinthe as an afflatus this time. He takes us to a land where alluring little green fairies buzz around and people cut their ears off under absinthe’s massively woozy influence.

Thujon: The impact of well-made Absinthe depends on its concentration of thujon. It can best be described as a kind of heightened clarity of mind and vision. And this is what this track is all about - 100% Thujon!

Louche is the name of the cloudy effect you achieve by adding water to spirits, which contain anise, like absinthe does. This track starts with a low-key groove, which forces up to a mental dance affaire, including a genuine rocking Daso-esque break. 

La Fée Verte: Imagine a lazy summer afternoon. You’re sitting outside a small café at the Cote d’Azur. After drinking your fourth Absinthe you might actually see a little green fairy, sitting on your shoulder, singing this sweet melody in your ear.

If you look at the artist line up of our new release, a press info is actually pretty obsolete, but I thought I´d write a few words anyway. Oniris from the south of France is really on the rise with his latest music on Laurent's Cod3QR and upcoming music on Bedrock or Systematic and when I got in touch with him to talk about releasing on Break New Soil, he sent „Stay“ and „Wild Thing“ - I was sold instantly! When thinking of adding a remix, I contacted my good old friend Josh Wink to see if he would be up for it and I honestly couldn´t be more blown away by the result. Josh's rework is a no-nonsense Techno anthem that surprises on first listen while leaving no doubt that it's a trademark Wink production with his subtle and sophisticated beat stunts and impeccable sound profile. Additionally Josh delivered an Acid Version plus a dub mix! We think this is one of the biggest releases on our label ever and can´t wait for you to check it out.
