Cherne´ Crystal Brown, also known by the alias “Connceited”, has been making waves within the past year captivating listeners with her amazing vocal dexterity. At only 25 years old, her love of singing has gained her several opportunities within North Carolina which include but aren’t limited to performances across the state, radio spins, interviews and sponsorships from local black owned businesses. 

 As early as 3 years old “Connceited” has shown her love for singing. Having her start in church, she showed humble beginnings singing in numerous choirs and praise teams. Seeing potential so early on, her family invested in formal vocal training at the age of 12. By her teenage years, she found local notoriety singing the National Anthem at sporting events at her middle and high school. 

 Originating from Atlantic City, New Jersey, life was not always easy. Coming from a single parent home, relocating to Durham came with its own challenges. Becoming a single mom at 15, a career in music seemed a far reach. Even with local artist reaching out for features, her opportunities were limited due to the challenges of raising 3 kids. The first glimmer of hope came in the form of her first single released in the fall of 2020 titled “Lingerie”. 

With the seen untapped potential surrounding her voice, “Connceited” gained access and advice to several of the top DJ’s in the Carolina’s including DJ RnB, DJ Double J, DJ Typack, DJ BEazy, DJ Showout and more. She pushed her record by participating in music reviews such as Carolina Waves with K97.5’s Mir-I-Am, DJ ChuckT, CoCo Philipina, Natt Moss and StephenTheDream just to name a few.

 “Connceited” has performed at venues Motorco in Durham, NC, Arcade of Thrones in Raleigh, NC, Skewer’s in Durham, NC and Deluxe Lounge in Charlotte, NC. Her single “Lingerie” has gained radio play on the triangle’s syndicated radio stations K97.5 and WTV Radio Oak City 93.5FM. Currently pushing 3 singles, she is now working towards her first EP to give her rapidly growing fanbase a body of art that expresses who “Connceited” is. Her support system includes the people she’s lived with majority of her life such as her Aunt Chanda, her mother and her grandmother. 

 “Connceited’s” ultimate goal is to provide for her three children Malachi Lyric and Cadence with her gift given from God. Her future is bright and promising. Her voice is astonishing. She will be a common name on your playlist for years to come.

Alex Vaughn’s evocative R&B songs are written with richness, honesty, and a desire to always keep evolving. An unquenchable thirst for growth is what’s powered the Maryland singer/songwriter as she’s released songs like her February single “Mirage,” a hypnotizing reflection on a toxic situationship, her first release since signing with LVRN/Interscope in 2021. Since then, she’s continued to push herself. Her new project, The Hurtbook, seamlessly juxtaposes her classically trained musicianship with the raw expression she’s developed as she digs deep. Vaughn’s trajectory was always going to include music. As a toddler, she’d often sprint from the bathtub to her grandmother’s piano and around age five or six, her parents enrolled her in classical and jazz piano lessons. Still, her heart was set on R&B. In 2017, Vaughn began posting covers to Instagram and Twitter, which led to performances at notable venues such as The Kennedy Center and The Fillmore, and opening on national tours for K. Michelle and Eric Bellinger. During the pandemic, Vaughn joined LVRN’s Instagram Live talent show. She caught the label’s attention, and the following year, they formalized their belief in her. Now, with The Hurtbook, she’s using her platform to show her fans how far self-belief can go. “My fans will always know that I am a human being, so I’m scared just like you are,” she says. “I’m nervous like you are. I’m excited. I feel what you feel. I’m doing the best that I can with what I got.”
