We have recorded a new version where both of us sing the song. It's a big part of our identity as a band that we both sing.
The plot of the song is that we all get lost once in a while but if we stick together then we eventually will find our way back.
In this song a man has lost his memory and his woman is looking for him. Suddenly it occurs to the storyteller what is going on and he helps them out!

Wide open sails (new version)

1941 in Babyn Jar(Ukraine near Kiev), in probably the largest single massacre in the history of mankind, almost 34,000 Jews were murdered by the Nazis in cooperation with the German Wehrmacht by shooting and "piling them up" in the "Women's Gorge” (in Ukrainian "Babyn Jar"). 

Most of the murdered Jews were completely exterminated. Their bodies were burned, their belongings stolen.

With my song "Babyn Jar" I want to make a small contribution to this massacre never being forgotten and everything humanly possible being done so that such an event never repeats in the future.

And since this massacre leaves one only in speechless mourning for the souls, which are often raped, then murdered and wiped out, there are no lyrics in this song apart from a lament choir this time.

This delightful musical/spiritual collaboration unfolded so naturally, organically, and with such ease; the fruit of our mutual appreciation of each other's music over several years on SoundCloud.  In-deed, it was something magical that couldn't and wouldn't be rushed. :)  
So...
When my dear Norwegian friend and vocalist Oddrun Eikli   https://soundcloud.com/oddrun-eikli  let me know that she was really taken with my piano piece `Hymn To The Heavens'  @  https://soundcloud.com/gary-courtland-miles/hymns-to-the-heavens  I jumped at the chance to engage with her and sent the piano track immediately. 😁 Thankfully, she replied that as she had a special feeling for it, that she would love to try. And OMG, did she ever!  The result is a 50/50 collaboration that many listeners have described as 'Stunning'. I agree whole-heartedly.

Several months later, Oddrun wrote again, this time enclosing her Vocal tracks and a rough mix of how it sounded to her as a whole. Needless to say, she totally `blew me away`with the depth and beauty of her creative contribution.  I am still in awe of what she did. Here's what she said about the experience.  

    " I sing from the heart. 
       I have sung again and again until I found my way with the music. 
       It is a meditation, it is gratitude to what was, what is, and what is to come.
       I am so grateful for this journey in your music. 
       It has enriched my life. 
       With your wonderful music and this journey, I feel such joy and  
       tranquillity. W we will be best friends forever.

We are two passionate singer/song writers that write songs in both danish and english. We always seek to create a catchy melody but the lyrics are equally important to us.
