In 2013 a duo began to surface on the radar, associations and releases on Atomnation and Kompakt began to reinforce their status. The pair from the Netherlands, Harm Coolen & Merijn Scholte Albers, make up the Weval project which is about to release its debut album for Kompakt. They met in 2010 and describe their relationship and its outcomes as "organic". Their musical backgrounds vary and have led to a clash of ideas and concepts which is prevalent throughout their work. We caught up with the pair and asked them to record a mix.

Mimi Love has played herself into the hearts of countless people all over the globe with her signature sound and unforgettable gigs. Her sets are diverse and distinct, and have been known to move people’s hearts and feet in equal measure wherever she plays.
Although she can often be found discovering unknown territories, Berlin is the place where she loves to take off and land. As a member of the infamous Bachstelzen crew and resident DJ at Katerblau, she is deeply rooted in the German capital, where she has been playing many different roles in “this theatre called underground” for the past 10 years.

Her heartwarming style encompasses both slow and fast vibes, spanning a mixture of electronica-ethno, soft rock - downtempo hiphop all the way to what she calls pop-techno. This podcast is peek into her colourful collection, a mix that showcases the different kinds of music she has collected over the past months. It shows us a side of Mimi Love that we don’t always get to see in clubs - one that we’ve very happy to be able to experience for ourselves with her specially curated mix for Urban Cosmonaut Radio. Presenting the twenty-first variation of The Space Between Guest Mix podcast series with J.Pool (@j_pool). My goal behind this series is to showcase artists and good friends I've been fortunate to connect with throughout my music journey, those who create and share from the deepest part of their soul and whose musical storytelling abilities bring us deep into the space of feeling.

I met @j_pool during the @momentomcollective artist residency at the beginning of March 2020 just before the Coronavirus outbreak where he was facilitating Ableton music production and recording classes through his project Inspirit Holistic Music Production Retreat (more info at www.inspirit.love/). We ended up "quarantined" together and traveled after the conclusion of the residency to Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.

We were fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of land, clean water, healthy food and amazing people while the rest of the world seemed to be on pause. We developed an amazing friendship, one of the few people I consider a true brother, while finding ourselves able to share and explore music with zero restriction - the only place in the world I'm aware of which was able to do so at the time.

Over the next few months we would play countless b2b sets, full moon parties and ecstatic dances during our time together on the island, celebrating our lives, freedoms and gratitude for the ability to do so and everyone around who was able to share these experiences with us.

This set is a special one, as it includes all originally-produced music from Joe and is a live set recording for an ecstatic dance facilitated high up on Volcan Concepcion overlooking Lake Nicaragua at sunset.

This rare set of 100% @j_pool originals opens up with one of his newest productions "Mi Alma" in which all vocals and melodies were actually recorded himself.

I trust the experience will shine through, and hope you can tap into the heart-felt creations Joe shares in this exclusive mix while getting a taste of what life has been like on Ometepe aka Infinity Island.
