China-based Unchained Recordings welcomes HØST for his spectacular debut on the label with the Valhalla EP. Four rich pieces of audio that explore both intelligent, rich atmospherics and devastating dancefloor bass weight.
Bristolian dark-light halftime producer, Harry Taylor aka HØST, forms part of the pioneering group of artists that, in recent years, have made the cross-pollination of Hip-hop and Bass an artform. Having demonstrated his worth on labels such as Noisia’s Division, Saturate and Vandal, he is recognised for tastefully combining multiple disparate styles in his music - often taking rich soundscape electronica and threading it with the likes of Trap, Drum’n’Bass, Dubstep or leftfield Hip-hop.
His latest EP brings all his influences together into one universe of sound. On the heavier end there is Valhalla and Still OJ. At 140bpm, both carry onerous
amounts of bass and are complete journeys in themselves. For the collector, they are undoubtedly some of the rarest, most broad-spectrum dancefloor gems on the label so far. Moving into more surreal territory we have Tron and Bed vs Lazy Boy - two Halftime cross-hybrid pieces of art with deep hypnotic hooks that are yet tastefully complex.
With no sonic template in mind and taking the listener on a deep journey from 140 to 160bpm, HØST delivers next level with a release that has serious shelf life for both chin strokers and dancefloor zealots alike.

Dropping 13th November, exciting Los Angeles-based electronica purveyors Elastic Rhythms return with a mammoth new release from none other than enigmatic LA beatsmith Chef Boyarbeatz. With prior releases across the likes of Bassrush, Mad Zoo, Discovery Project, Street Ritual and more, Chef has built an increasingly illustrious production portfolio, and an incredibly varied one at that. Thus, this is a match made in heaven for producer and label, with the impacts of Elastic Rhythms’ pioneering approach being felt on both sides of the Atlantic, on a national and international scale.

‘The Mandala Effect’ takes on a multitude of effervescent forms, manipulating and changing its main body with each and every writhing, immaculately-synthesised turn. It’s warped, it’s genre-bending, i't’s high-octane and we just can’t get enough of it. Pitched as ‘a certified half-time meets jungle-rave weapon’ on the PR, we couldn’t wait to see how it lived up to that statement - it did, and it exceeded all our prior high expectations.

Fusing waterfall-style, flowing junglist breaks with half-time aesthetics and effortlessly grimey background layering, Chef has absolutely smashed this one out of the park, creating an incredible peaked cut that’d fit perfectly into the sets of Ivy Lab, Sam Binga, Shades, Sherelle and more - it’s truly that varied. It just gets better and better as it goes on, showing itself to be not just a heavy-hitting dance demolisher, but also a progressive masterpiece as well. We can’t wait to here what’s yet to come from both parties, and we’ll also be premiering a VERY, VERY special remix of this track very soon. Watch this space.
