Back on Dispatch following 2019's Sub Rosa’ and ‘Orbital’ EPs, Ben England aka Natural Forces delivers the stunning ‘Sense Memory EP’. Formerly one half of dnb production duo Basic Unit, his output as Natural Forces takes a much deeper and reflective tone – exploring minimal liquid sounds, packed with the type of progression and intricate details that make his music a perfect fit for Dispatch Recordings.

Title track ‘Sense Memory’ is a reflective, minimal stepper built around filtered vocals and classic liquid funk elements. Reminiscent of that early Creative Source sound, this one almost sounds straight from the dancefloors of Swerve.

Guiding things into tougher territory throughout the EP, Native Elements shows he knows how to work a bass synth just right, from the rolling ‘Birthright’ to the abstract jazz fused jungle drums of ‘Genesis’ via the heavy-hitting ‘Identity’. As the experimental track ‘Downwards’ rolls out, the snarling bass and off-key synth lead the listener deeper. The final track, ‘Lower Decks’, sees Natural Forces in full choppage mode, with precision edits and drumfunk-esque chops completing the EP with a heavyweight banger.

Hotly-tipped Royal Audio head-honcho Raybee returns with his next drop, this time in the form of a delicious minimal outing on Lost Recordings. After dominating on releases for the likes of Four Corners Music, Trigger Audio, Talayotik Sound and his own tasteful aforementioned imprint, Raybee arrives on Lost with a fresh outlook on the minimal sound, driven by an efficient, pinpoint production aesthetic and a keen ear for cuts that hit hard on the dancefloor, but also do the damage on a technical level. This is one for the trifecta of ravers, listeners and audiophiles. Those evocative, melancholic stabs that are weaved in gradually through the introduction take centre stage masterfully on that oh-so-crisp b-line, combining with flittering, meandering percs and hits, laying the perfect foundations for those other sequential elements to drive you into the ground like a tent peg. Raybee brings the hammer down, and he's not slowing down anytime soon.

A new direction; a new, diverse sound for Northern Line Records, a freshly baked, forward-thinking drum & bass imprint who hold their finely-tuned roots in the thriving scene of Newcastle. 'Northern Line 001' - their very first official release (it's an absolute stonker by the way), features a stellar catalogue of artists, both upcoming and established, including Amplify, Concept One, Elbi, Hexa, Metal Work, Rantik, StillZ, Stompz and this low-slung, acidic corker from JAK & DJ Hybrid. A collaboration worthy of plenty of plaudits from artistic peers and ravers alike, 'Kilimanjaro' represents an industrial new sonic avenue for both producers - it's dingy, it's grotty and we absolutely love it. It retains that signature grit that both JAK & Hybrid deliver in their respective dominant sounds, but adds a new layer of minimal depth - it's class all round, and that goes for the entirety of this compilation.
