Making up 1⁄6 of Tremor Music Management, Sammy Virji has firmly imprinted his distinctive sound into the UK Bass and Garage scenes, particularly over the past year. With support from Holy Goof, TQD, TS7 and many more, he has landed himself regular DJ sets at renowned clubs and events across the country including Printworks (London), Tank (Sheffield), his residency at World Headquarters (Newcastle) as well as being welcomed onto Chris Lorenzo’s Bass Mentality Tour.

His releases with Chip Butty Records & Off Me Nut Records really put him on the map and has since amassed hundreds of thousands of plays thus leading him to sign with UAA Agency.. The Teeside based producer recently announced his ‘Tremor Presents: Sammy Virji Show’ on the third Friday of every month from 11pm-1am on Reprezent Radio. Sammy’s reputation is only set to continue growing in the coming months with appearances coming up at the likes of South West Four Festival and his debut 1Forty release on the way.

The first track on 1FFEM001 is the rising star of experimental electronic grime and dubstep music, L U C Y.

The Bristol born producer now based in London has been producing for 6 years and in that time has honed her unique sound and stamped her authority across the underground and is recognised across different scenes for her original electronic sound. Having played at Bandulu, Fabric & Motion to name a few as well as Keep Hush apperances she is also on the opening night line-up for 13 Weeks of Flava D at XOYO alongside Flava D, Skepsis & Sharda. She’s supported artists such as Swamp 81 boss Loefah, Bandulu’s Khan & Neek and Hi5 & Boofy as well as Murlo. The Bandulu crew have been supporting her music regularly.

With releases on Trapdoor, Astral Black and Femme Culture she also won 2017 the South-West heats of Red Bull’s Riddim Rally in 2017 as well as competing earlier this year in the Beat Boss Qualifiers and hosted various music workshops for Red Bull, Apple and Saffron Records.

Nina Wilde has been putting in the work for the Midlands for over 10 years. Based in Wolverhampton she started DJ’ing in 2000 and jumped into production in 2004. Over her career she has played up and down the country and overseas in the likes of Norway but recent highlights include BoomTown, Beatherder and a number of appearances in Sheffield at the likes of Tank & The Night Kitchen. Releases have spanned across Champion’s Formula Records, FooR’s Yosh, Saucy Records, Hot Cakes & loads more.

DJ Q highlighted Nina as one to watch in his interview with Fabric in 2017 and its not hard to see why. As well as her long list of reputable labels she has released on she has gathered support from Herve, TS7, Kissy Sellout, Mike Delinquent and My Nu Leng who used one of her tracks on their Fabric Live promo mix. Marcus Nasty has also heavily supported her through playing her music on his radio show on Rinse FM as well as welcoming her for on their for a Guest Mix.

Whilst working on the track for this project she was on the hunt for some vocal stabs which she shouted Champagne Bubbler for. He sent a full vocal over which he recently wrapped up and after hearing it Nina decided to use the full version on the track.

Bamz, the 22 year old programmer/producer & DJ hailing from South-West London. With a love for music from as young as 6 beatboxing before jumping into production at the age of 10 it seems music is ingested in her DNA. Pursuing various musical ventures through secondary school soon after leaving she met rapper - Nadia Rose. 5 years later she now has the privilege of being Nadia’s right hander both in the studio and as a DJ spinning for her at major UK Festivals such as Wireless, Glastonbury, Love Saves The Day, Bestival as well as international appearances at Sweden, Ibiza & Brazil where they performed at the 2016 Olympics.

The last couple of years has seen her pursue her own productions as well as assisting Nadia focusing specifically on Funky House. She hosted her own show on Radar Radio until recently before dropping her long awaited self released Buggin’ EP on Bandcamp which received a huge reception. Flexy shows her raw talent and various influences from different genres she has been following over both her younger and teenage years.

The final track on the all female release comes from K Minor. Based across the Thames from Bamz in North West London she started producing in 2013. Although playing instruments from a young age of 8 including piano and guitar gave her a real understanding for music theory. Having also hosted workshops for Native Instruments and Red Bull on electronic music production.

Since taking up producing more seriously in the last 4 years she has been self releasing her own UK Garage music with support coming from DJ Cartier, Mike Delinquent, Marcus Nasty as well as a feature from Complex UK. Funnily enough it was the Prince of UKG himself Conducta who recommended K Minor for this release after coming up short on our hunt for a female UKG producer.

‘They Don’t Know’ brings together two of the Labels key members in Killa P and Fork And Knife to deliver an authentic modern day dubstep gem for the lead track of 1FGRM004. A system punishing sub and a back and forth lead that can only resemble heavy machinery, paired with the classic combination of Killa P’s ragga influenced Brixton accent on vocals is the recipe for a track that has the Outlook Festival aura written all over it.

A renowned MC in the Grime & Dubstep world. Killa P’s acclaimed for his unique patois style and hard lyrics. Killa became known as one of the UK’s prolific MCs while he was a member of one of the UK’s founding grime crews, Roll Deep. His style and flow led to commercial success and earned him a new generation of fans through his 2008 collaboration with The Bug on the seminal track ‘SKENG’. Fast forward a few years to 2016 where he released the biggest track of the year with Sir Spyro, Teddy Bruckshot & Lady Chann on Deep Medi along with other successful releases, including ‘Rate Us’ which was his 2nd Release under 1Forty on 1FGRM002. This will be his third and fourth track respectively as he is the first MC on the Label to come with a double header on a single release.

The man behind the production of this is fellow Londoner - Fork And Knife. Based in North East London has carved out a sound that pays homage to the underground scenes that have shaped him as a person over the past decade. More recently spreading his wings into Grime and Garage he’s applied techniques from producing different genres over the years with the result being unique structures with injections of sharp sound design using square wave basses and an often frantic yet stellar selection of drums. It’s not hard to see why his sound is so original with 10 years of production under his belt.

This is Fork And Knife’s first time appearing on a Genre Release after his debut single with the label ‘Real Monsters’ which gathered support from the likes of Toddla T on BBC Radio 1, and its follow up ‘Real Monsters VIP’ for the ‘2 Years Of 1Forty’ Release, the latter earlier this year in June. Like Killa P, the versatile producer is also contributing to not just one track on this release, as the long awaited link up with 9TRANE rears its head on the same tracklist.

‘How Many Times’ sees Dizzle Kid make his debut 1Forty release with a 16 bar feature from close friend Killa P. There is also new blood on the buttons in Bristol’s NothingNice who comes forward with a Boylan and Trends inspired instrumental offering up a flat out cut throat bass, classic grime orchestral strings whilst also referencing the eskimo sound. Very few voices can cut through such a tune, one that comes straight to mind is none other than Dizzle Kid.

Originally from Birmingham, Dizzle Kid has seen his local city go from strength to strength as Grime fever took over from right back when Sidewinder took off in the early 2000s, often featuring himself alongside DJ Big Mikee and Vader. Whilst Birmingham has had its time in the limelight, it also has had times it got forgotten about in Grimes quieter years. Often been between London and Birmingham Dizzle Kid had the best of both worlds at times however he would always be flying the flag of his roots further north.

Fast forward a few years Dizzle gained quite a significant reputation as being one of the leading names in the Sika Records camp which brought together a lot of Birmingham's best MC’s and crews such as Dizzle Kid, Devilman, Trilla and Stayfresh tearing up raves and stage takeovers around the Midlands and beyond. Around this time he stayed in London for a stint and ended up going to a show with Marcus Nasty. An opportunity arose to host a show and the two have been tearing down raves around the country and Marcus’s Rinse FM show ever since and have recently started the new Nasty Bro’s collective consisting of Mic Man Front, Shantie alongside Marcus and Mak10. The last couple of years has seen him drop a lot of self released material seeing support from Sir Spyro, Logan Sama and Spooky amongst others paving the way for his debut 1Forty Release.

On production duties for the first time in the 1Forty camp is NothingNice. Taking huge influence from all realms of 140 past and present such as Deep Medi and Bandulu dubstep artists Egoless, Commodo, Kahn and Boofy, to the artist from the very 140 origins themselves - Wiley, and especially the more modern take on gritty underground grime from royalty Slimzee as well as Slimzos and Meanstreets key contributor Boylan. Spending the best part of four years honing his craft soaking in the hub of the UK underground scene in Bristol, the turn of the year saw the 24 year old get his first bout of material sent out which saw plays across Rinse and NTS and even at the holy grail of Bristol - Motion. A debut three track EP followed which was well received and supported by Spooky amongst others. This instrumental was the following project which landed in the 1Forty submissions and on receipt was taken without hesitation, yet still crying out for a dominant vocal Dizzle Kid was on the other end of the phone ready to snap it up with a helping hand from Killa P dropping in a feature to pair up with his lead vocal.

The main contributor to 1Forty’s Grime and Dubstep discography is 9TRANE, pair the Norwich based producer up with one of the labels most original sounding rising talents in Fork And Knife and the outcome is ‘Check It’. Two signature styles come together to meet right down the middle using Fork And Knife’s frantic skippy drums and custom FX side by side with 9TRANE’s lead synths of pure bassweight.

9TRANE made an appearance on the label earlier this year celebrating two years of the label on ‘2 Years Of 1Forty’ with his highly anticipated ‘Plazma VIP’ alongside Arridim. This will be his first appearance on a Genre Release since 1FFNG002 in September 2018. In that time he has had arguably his biggest release to date on the world renowned Punks Music ran by Stanton Warriors. The lead track ‘Trippy’ was with My Nu Leng front man Dread MC which saw a Premier from Data Transmission and when it dropped the full EP went straight to #1 on Beatport. ‘Check It’ is the follow up release to his chart topping release and it’s just as highly anticipated for fans of the 1Forty label as one thing that 9TRANE and Fork And Knife have in common is their intricate sound, which is all heavily influenced by Grime and Dubstep whilst also taking influence from minimal UK Bass/Techno and Drum & Bass.

Four40 Records follow up a superb EP from I Killed Kenny in the form of 'Skanks' from fresh collaborators DECiBEL & Flowdan.

With a positive message and dynamite flow, Flowdan lays rugged vocals for DECiBEL to build a powerhouse track that is bound to send shock waves through many a dance. Not usually the type of beat the MC would usually vocal, this one causes pulses to race with a bounding drum line and a siren-like synth melody that is bound to send ravers crazy. Flowdan growls typically with superb one-liners, adding to the tracks blatant energy and raw rhythm that is sure to prove this one a dangerous weapon in any dance DJ's collection.

ENiGMA Dubz turns the track on its' head for the official remix. Providing a much grimier vibe without losing any of its' energy, this break-ya-neck style dungeon beat is one made for the 'skankers'. The remix package also features additional mixes from Hybrid Theory, DJ Cable, Lol Gurlz & Network.

With a video scheduled for release, this track is one that deservingly will cause ripples of hype through many EDM scenes.
