DYING LIGHT (moi remix)

hello!

"are you sure" was the third song i produced for this ep. since the last two tracks had the same tempo, i wanted to switch it up and get more aggressive with some hardstyle techno! this track is at 165 bpm, and i notice the difference in tone. i took a lot of inspiration from the artist CEEJAY, @ceejaymusik, for this track. they are one of my favorite techno artists right now. their music is insanely good, and i highly recommend everyone check them out! specifically, i drew inspiration from their song "Left Me Bleeding," which balances elements of horror and music, something i thought would fit perfectly into this project.

for this track, i aimed for a choppier, hard-hitting sound with screeching and robotic elements. i love all the speed ramps in this track, they remind me of raves. every time i listen to this song, it brings me back to when i would go raving with my friends, and that feeling is very wholesome and comforting for me. my favorite part of the whole song is the final drop, the grittiness is so fun!

hi!

"lucky star" was the fourth and final track i produced for this ep, and it was definitely a challenge. i felt a lot pressure to make something really good since it was the last track before wrapping up the project. i also wanted to create something unique that would stand out, but all the pressure was clouding my mind and making me second guess my ideas. i started with the kick pattern, as it's the foundation of this song. i was inspired by SNOW WIFE's, @snowwife-music, song "WET DREAM." there's a really fun kick pattern at the beginning of the second chorus that i wanted to emulate. it also reminds me of an Ice Spice beat, which has always been a dream of mine to try and recreate. once i decided on the kick pattern, everything else started to fall into place.

i'm really happy with this track! it has a dance club vibe that i love. i considered adding a third drop but ultimately decided against it to avoid overcrowding the song with too many beat switches. the title "lucky star" came from the very ending of the movie Alien, and i knew i wanted to use an audio sample from that scene.

hello!

"relax" was the second track i produced for this ep following "2am", and i wanted to explore a more trance/psychedelic vibe while keeping a traditional techno sound. i kept the tempo at 150 BPM, like the opening track, to maintain the same energy throughout the project. i aimed for a simple, straightforward track similar to "2am" because i wanted the essence of the song to come forward right from the start without a lot of fluff. i also included a switch up in the second half to leave a strong impression as the closing track.

i hope you all have enjoyed my first project, take me. creating this ep was such a joy and bringing it into reality has been an amazing experience. as i mentioned before, i usually lean towards demonic aesthetics, but for this ep, i wanted to try out extraterrestrial sounds and vibes. i've been searching the internet for so many alien sounds that i've gotten obsessed with the Alien movies. watching the whole franchise has been so much fun, and i highly recommend these unique and scary films!

Simply put, the concept for the song I had in my mind was something like a modern Noah's Ark, whereas the original was he warned everyone but then they didn't listen. In my song, I added a modern theme, of usage of cellular phones as a way of his warnings. He is also conversing with a girl he loves, but didn't also listen so he just left everyone behind. Same plot goes /but/, after he has proven that the dangers are real (like an apocalypse of some sort), he was full of pride and mocked the people who didn't listen to him.
