CATACOMB

Catacomb is Toronto based DJ, event organizer and journalist. He has long been part of the electronic music culture in his city for over a decade, exploring different niches within the scene as a fan. He got his start as a resident DJ and event organizer in early 2011, working with Zero-Percent. Together they’ve succeeded in bringing international talent to the city such as Sasha Carassi, Erphun and Subfractal (Aka Measure Divide). 

Sensing a general lack of knowledge regarding techno in his city and the local talent to play it, he formed Opaque Shift (OS) in late 2012. OS is a music collective which has been responsible for putting new artists into the scene and fostering their career moving forward, artists include: Paulina G, Stephanie Jax, Toca, and Vyxn. The group also writes news, which has included write-ups for artists such as Perc, Mick Finesse and Subfractal (AKA Measure Divide). 


PAULINA G

Paulina G comes from the suburbs outside Toronto and finds her passion rooted in the raw side of techno. Her biggest influences include Luis Flores, Brian Sanhaji, and Truncate to name a few. Paulina G collaborated with Catacomb in late 2012 and joined his collective Opaque Shift to disseminate the techno scene throughout Toronto culture. She’s played regular events inside the Guvernment, Li’ly Lounge, and at several events hosted by Zero Percent. Catacomb and Paulina G worked together in the recording of this podcast.

We like the dark, harder-edged style of techno with its roots firmly in German, UK and Detroit influences. The raw and organic… techno in it’s underground form – the purest form.
